    • PURPOSE:To prevent the peripheral part of a sheet metal from being deformed by forming the abutting surface between a die and a pressure pad to the imaginary extending surface outside the abutting surface between a knockout and a punch so that it is more inclined toward the die side from the extending surface between the inside surface and the outside surface. CONSTITUTION:The die 15 and a pressure pad 17 are provided to press the periphery of the sheet metal 13 respectively at its surface and back face. The knockout 14 and the punch 16 are prepared to press and form a part located between the die 15 and the pressure pad 17 respectively from its surface and back face excluding the periphery of the sheet metal material 13. The abutting surface between the die 15 and the pressure pad 17 is formed to the imaginary extending surface outside the abutting surface between the knockout 14 and the punch 16 so that it is more inclined to the die side than to the extended surface between the inside end and the outside end. In this way, generation of deformation can be avoided on the peripheral part of a shadow mask curved surface formed.

    • PURPOSE:To suppress generation of wrinkles on a shadow mask by placing thereon a metal sheet in approx. the same shape as the weld surface of a frame, and putting an electrode having a tip in the same shape as the desired welding line on the metal sheet in pressurization and close contact, followed by supply of current. CONSTITUTION:A shadow mask 2 is heated from above by a heater 7 to approx. 120 deg.C. When the temp. of this shadow mask 2 has become constant, a table 4 is moved, and a frame 1 is moved and fixed to a specified position under the shadow mask 2. Simultaneously with movement and fixation of the frame 1 to the specified position, an aluminum sheet 8 in approx. the same shape as the top 1a of the frame 1 is placed on the welds of the shadow mask 2. An electrode 9 of Cu or Cu alloy, which is in the same shape as the welds 1b shown by a two-dotted chain line connecting approx. the center of the frame top 1a and has a tip with sharp profile, is put on the sheet 8 in pressurization and close contact, followed by supply of current. According to this arrangement the shadow mask 2 is welded momentarily throughout the outside circumference of the frame 1.

    • PURPOSE:To improve reliability of a shadow mask with a uniform tension and less wrinkles by placing the shadow mask on a frame, pressing the shadow mask with another frame to make the shadow mask adhere to the frame, and welding the portions of the shadow mask inside or outside the other frame. CONSTITUTION:A frame 1, placed on a table 4 made of a material of good conductivity connected to one of electrodes 3 of a welding power source, is electrically connected to the electrode 3. A shadow mask 2 is flatly held with its several positions stretched in radial directions from the center by means of springs 6 attached to a holding jig 5. Upon moving and fixing the frame 1 to a specified position, a frame 8 is lowered to be pressed in close contact the shadow mask 2. The thermally expanded shadow mask 2 is pressed and brought into close contact with the frame 1 by means of the frame 8 and welding positions of both of the components are fixed. Another electrode 9 for seam welding is rotated while in contact with the frame 8 to perform the seam welding. Since the thermal capacity of the frame 1 is large, temperature rise due to the welding is small. On the other hand, since the shadow mask 2 is fixed to the frame 1 while being heated and expanded, tensile forces are produced on the entire surface when cooled to the room temperature.

    • PURPOSE:To secure such a focusing electrode that is no fear of any slippage occurrence in its focusing point in an easy manner and in a way of highly assembling accuracy, by forming the electrode in a state of what a burring die, a burring bottom hole and a burning punch are all being decentered one another, while providing a cylindrical tilting part with a curved concave part. CONSTITUTION:For example, an opening 122a at the side of a high potential side electrode 12 is concentrically provided with a cylindrical screening plate 123a having an almost equal inner diameter with the diameter of this opening 122a, and this screening plate 123a is made up in a shape being cut after forming a curved concave part 124a by making a cylinder slant so as to cause the length of its side wall to be successively increased toward a beam's focusing direction. Like this, each of curved concave parts 114a, 114c, 124a and 124c are set up, by making the cylinder slant to each of center axes 4a and 4c, on screening plates 113a and 113c of a low potential side electrode 11 and screening plates 123a and 123c of the said high potential side electrode 12. With this, unevenness in a focusing point converged defectively at one point on an electron beam's shadow mask can be checked to the extent of almost nothing.
