    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk apparatus, wherein the shield function applied to a magnetic head is enhanced while keeping the form factor.
      SOLUTION: The magnetic disk apparatus 50 includes: a magnetic disk 4; the magnetic head 5 used for recording / reproducing information; a housing 9 comprising a base 2 and a cover 1 made of a nonmagnetic material; and a magnetic shield member 3 made of a magnetic material. A notch part 9a is formed at a part of the housing corresponding to a moving range of the magnetic head 5, and the magnetic shield member 3 is formed in a channel shape comprising an upper wall part 3a, a side wall part 3b, and a bottom wall part 3c. While the moving range of the magnetic head 5 is covered by the magnetic shield member 3, the magnetic field member 3 is placed on the notch part 9a so as to form the substantially same surface as the surface of the housing 9 comprising the upper wall, the side wall and the bottom wall.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a shield function to magnetic heads while keeping a form factor with inexpensive structure in a magnetic disk device.
      SOLUTION: This magnetic disk device 50 is equipped with; a magnetic disk 3; magnetic heads, each of which records/reproduces information to/from the magnetic disk 3; a magnetic head supporting mechanism 4 which supports the magnetic heads; a positioning mechanism 6 which positions the magnetic heads by moving the magnetic heads in the radial direction of the magnetic disk 3; a case 1 which is constituted of nonmagnetic material; and a shield member 10 which is constituted of magnetic material. The case 1 houses the magnetic disk 3, the magnetic heads, the magnetic head supporting mechanism 4, the positioning mechanism 6 and the shield member 10 in its inside. The shield member 10 is equipped with; an upper shield 11 which is located above the magnetic heads, and which extends over the movement range of the magnetic heads; a lower shield 12 which is located at a side opposite to a face where the magnetic heads exist, and which extends over movement range of the magnetic heads; and a connecting part 13 which connects the outer peripheral side end part of the upper shield and the outer peripheral side end part of the lower shield in the vicinity of the outer edge of the magnetic disk 3.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the amount of projection due to the heat from a heating device and to reduce power consumption for flying height adjustment by the heating device while suppressing the heat projection by the heat generation of a magnetic recording element in a magnetic disk device.
