      SOLUTION: The elevator car 4 is structured so that an opening/closing panel 8 is installed on the side wall part of an elevator doorway and a sub-panel 13 is provided in such a way as covering the rear surface of the panel 8, wherein the sub-panel 13 is furnished with an opening 14 to enable the maintenance work for a hall position display 2 installed on the wall 1 on the hall side and a working door 15 covering the opening 14 and capable of being opened and closed.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator for wheelchairs convenient for manually moving a line of steps at low speed during maintenance and inspection, part of the line of steps having special steps for carrying wheelchairs.
      SOLUTION: The escalator for wheelchairs includes at least a step line 4 consisting of a number of running steps arranged in an endless line on a track provided in the main frame of the escalator, and a comb plate 8 provided at the end of the escalator's platform to engage the step line 4. Part of the step line 4 is formed as the special steps 4d, 4e and 4f for carrying wheelchairs. The escalator is provided with an actuation means 16 which is actuated when the special steps 4d, 4e and 4f approach the comb plate 8 within a predetermined distance as the step line is manually moved at low speed. A reporting device 22 is provided for reporting that when the actuation means 16 is actuated, the special steps 4d, 4e and 4f have approached the comb plate 8 within the predetermined distance.
