    • PURPOSE:To improve the mutual permeability of a fibrous material and metal and to produce a fiber reinforced metallic material having good quality in the stage of producing said material by pressure casting by pressurizing the molten metal in a casting mold to a high pressure in an extremely short time and pressurizing the same under a low pressure for a prescribed time in succession. CONSTITUTION:A reinforcing fibrous material 10 of carbon fibers or the like is put into a casting mold 2, and molten metal of light metal such as Al or Mg is fed through a charging port 4 provided to a plunger sleeve 6 in the upper part of the casting mold and is pressurized by a pressurizing plunger 8, whereby the molten metal is solidified. The molten metal is solidified in this case under the extremely high pressure exerted initially thereon for an extremely short time P1 of about 1sec then under the pressure of Ps lower than said pressure exerted thereon for, say, about 60sec. The molten metal is penetrated uniformly into the fibrous material without gushing out of the molten metal and the fiber reinforced metallic material having high strength is produced.

    • PURPOSE:To produce a fiber reinforced metallic material in which a reinforcing fiber material soaks with a mother phase metal uniformly with each other and which has good quality by covering the inside surface of a casting mold in a pressure casting installation for the fiber reinforced metallic material with a heat resistant insulation material and retarding the cooling of the molten metal in the casting mold. CONSTITUTION:A heat resistant insulation material 8 of glass wool, ceramic fibers or the like is coated on the inside surface 2a of a casting mold 2, and a material 10 produced by fabricating reinforcing fibers such as carbon fibers into a fabric is disposed in the mold 2. Molten metal 14 of light metal such as Al, Mg or the like is charged through the feed port of a plunger sleeve 6 provided in the upper part of the mold 2 into the mold 2 and a plunger 12 is brought down from above to cool and solidify the metal 14 under application of pressure. Since the metal 4 solidifies by penetrating uniformly among the reinforcing fibers 10 in a highly fluid and molten state owing to the presence of the material 8, the fiber reinforced metallic material having good quality is obtained even if the pressurizing force by the plunger 12 is not so high.

    • PURPOSE:To form a sprayed ceramic film having superior stripping resistance on a base material of Al or an Al alloy by forming an under layer on the base material heated to a proper temp. by spraying and by spraying a ceramic material on the under layer. CONSTITUTION:An under layer is formed on a base material of Al or an Al alloy heated to 130-250 deg.C by spraying. The under layer is preferably made of an Ni-Cr alloy contg. 15-25wt% Cr or an Ni-Al alloy contg. 4-22% Al. A ceramic material is then sprayed on the under layer. The optimum ceramic material is a stabilized zirconia-base material having high stability at thigh temp., low heat conductivity and a coefft. of thermal expansion which is relatively close to that of the metal of the base material and that of the metal of the under layer, and the ceramic material is sprayed to about 0.2-1.0mm thickness.
