    • PURPOSE:To collect the lubricant and to cool the head of a piston effectively, by forming a recessed portion to reach the rear side of a ring groove furnished at the outside of the head, at the lower side of the head against a cutting arranged at the pin hubs and the neighboring positions of the skirt. CONSTITUTION:The piston 1 for an engine consists of a head 2, a pair of pin hubs 3 arranged on the same axis at both sides of the piston axis Y projected unitary at the lower side of the head 2, and a skirt 4 connected unitary to the lower periphery of the head 2. In the skirt 4, a cutting 9 is formed at the neighboring positions of each pin hub 3 in the direction to the periphery. In such a composition, at the lower side of a ring belt 7 against the cutting 9, a recessed portion 12 is furnished, which is formed at least to reach the rear side of the third ring groove 83 which is engraved at the outside of the ring belt 7. Therefore, the lubricant collected to the cutting 9 is penetrated to the recession 12 to cool the head 2 effectively.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the development of casting defect, such as mis-run caused by the lowering of the temp. in molten metal flowing by modeling the solidified state of the molten metal with a solid phase ratio indicating the ratio of the solid phase existing in the liquid phase and applying an analyzing method of the optimum flowing field in the solidified state. SOLUTION: An analyzing shape model divided into minute elements for fluidize- solidifying analysis is prepared. The necessary data to the fluidize-solidifying analysis are inputted and simulated. The solidified state of the molten metal is modeled with the solid phase ratio indicating the ratio of the solid phase existing in the liquid phase from the temp. of each minute element to discriminate the molten metal state. The fluidizing analysis is executed at each prescribed time interval by applying the analyzing method of the optimum flowing field from the discriminated state. The temp. changing states of the molter metal and a mold are temp.-analyzed in each prescribed time interval, and the filling state of the molten metal in the mold is reflected to the temp.-distribution. After temp.-analyzing, it is judged whether the analysis is to be continued or not from the given inputted conditional data. From this analyzed result, the unfilled part of the molten metal is found to predict the developing position of the defect.

    • PURPOSE:To ensure the caulking of an end cap by mounting the end cap on the opening section of a cylindrical member, and caulking a taper section connected to an end cap mounting step section and expanded in diameter toward the opening end toward the caulking face of the end cap. CONSTITUTION:The opening section 21 of a cylindrical member 20 is provided with an end cap mounting step section 27 formed on the inner wall face 25 of the cylindrical member 20 toward the outer wall face 26 of the cylindrical member 20 and having a nearly L-shaped cross section and a taper section 29 connected to it and expanded in diameter toward an opening end 28. An end cap 32 is provided with a wall face 35 vertically erected from the edge section 34 of a bottom face 33 and a caulking face 37 formed into a circular arc shape toward the center section from the periphery section of the wall face 35. When the opening section 21 is caulked after the end cap 32 is mounted on the end cap mounting step section 27 of the opening section 21, the taper section 29 starts to be bent from a boundary section 29a, and the taper section 29 is bent along the caulking face 37 of the end cap 32 while the material flows toward the opening end 28.
