    • PURPOSE:To realize a compact size and a light weight of a transmission by connecting a one-way clutch in series in the form to connect the output of one side and the input of the other side, and providing a lock clutch to engage or release the input at the most input side and the output at the most output side. CONSTITUTION:When a drive is carried out from an input shaft 11 side, the driving force can be transmitted while one-way clutches 25 and 28 are left in the operating condition by making a lock clutch 26 in the released condition. As a result, even though there is a condition to engage both clutches 15 and 16 at a time when the engagement of the presently operating clutch of the first or the second speed is released and the other side clutch is engaged to carry out the speed change, the power transmission by one side gear train is not operated by the function of the one-way clutches 25 and 28. On the other hand, when an engine brake is required in a deceleration running and the like, the engine brake can be obtained in any gear speed phase by engaging the lockup clutch 26.

    • PURPOSE:To eliminate the backlash and reduce the gear squeak noise by arranging a rotary resisting member equipped with one-way clutch function for providing a revolution resistance according to the relative revolution difference in the driving direction of a driven gear for the lowest speed stage and a driven shaft, between them. CONSTITUTION:Driven gears 21b and 22b for the first and second speed are installed in rotatable ways through needle roller bearings 31 and 38 onto a driven shaft 12, and the engagement and disengagement between the driven shaft 12 and the both driven gears 21b and 22b are carried out by a synchromesh mechanism 15. A rotary resisting ring 40 equipped with one-way clutch function is installed onto the inner surface of a driven gear body 30 for the first speed. The rotary resisting ring is made of elastic material and has a plurality of cut parts which are inclined counterclockwise from the inner periphery, and the revolution resistance is provided or not provided onto between the inner peripheral surface and the driven shaft 12 according to the direction of the relative revolution between the inner peripheral surface and the driven shaft 12. Therefore, the meshing backlash of the gear assembly 21 for the lowest speed stage is eliminated, and the gear squeak noise can be reduced.

Power divided by means of a differential mechanism 70 is transmitted to right/left wheels via the axle shafts 81, 82. In a power transmis sion 10 having such a structure, a final reduction gear 75 and a differential mechanism 70 can be provided coaxially with the input/output shafts 51, 53 of the speed change gear 50, enabling a second assembly 10b to be compactly formed. Therefore, even if the second assembly 10b is installed on an engine 1 side, the sideway projecting quantity is small, miniaturizing the power transmis sion 10.

An output shaft of the engine is connected to an input shaft 32 of a transmission through a torque converter 31, and a countershaft type speed change mechanism is disposed between the input shaft 32 and a countershaft 33 disposed parallel thereto. The countershaft 33 is connected to an output shaft 34 through an output gear set, and an input shaft 61a of the final reduction gear 60 is connected to the output shaft 34 through a countershaft 90. At this time, the engine 10 is disposed, with a cylinder shaft thereof inclined along the width of a car body, end the final reduction gear 60 is disposed beside the non-inclination side of the engine 10.

    • PURPOSE:To dispose an engine at a low position with respect to a car body by disposing a transmission at the rear end of an engine, and a final reduction gear beside the engine, and disposing an output gear set connecting a countershaft of the transmission and an output shaft on the final reduction gear side. CONSTITUTION:A driving device is constructed so that a transmission 30 is connected to the rear end of a crankshaft of an engine 10, extending in the longitudinal direction of a car body, and a final reduction gear 60 is connected to the left portion of the engine 10. The transmission 30 is constructed so that a countershaft 33 is disposed parallel to an input shaft 32, which is an output shaft of a torque converter 31 connected to the crankshaft, and a gear transmission mechanism is disposed between both shafts 32, 33. An output shaft 34 is disposed parallel to the countershaft 33, and both shafts 33, 34 are connected by output gear trains 46a, 46b meshed with each other. In this case, the output gear trains 46a, 46b are disposed in the front portion, that is, near the final reduction gear 60 in the transmission 30.
