    • PURPOSE:To perform a stable treatment, by improving various parts of a pelletizing device. CONSTITUTION:A concentrated liquid waste stored for a certain period in a tank 1 is transferred to a tank 3 together with spent resins. A waste liquid in the tank 3 is dried up and powdered by a dryer 6, is measured with a measuring equipment 10 to be a specific amount and is thrown into a pelletizer 14. As the measuring equipment 10 is a double hopper, no plugging occurs during its discharging operation. A binder in the hopper 11 is transferred to another measuring equipment 12 by a screw feeder 23 and is fed to the pelletizer 14 after measured to be a specific amount of the binder. In the hopper 11, an agitating rod rotates to loosen the binder. Because of a reverse threading mode at a top of the screw feeder 23, there is no possibility for the residual binder to be compressed to produce clogging. The screw feeder is controlled its rotation corresponding to an output of the measuring equipment 12 to prevent transferring an excess amount. The measuring equipment 12 has a structure without any expansion joint and therewith can measure very precisely. Dies of the pelletizer 14 are made of ceramics therefore are long life ones. Pelletized pellets are filled in a solidification vessel 16.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an apparatus which executes measurement of the density of surface contamination of a drum packed with a radioactive waste by a smear method at a high speed and automatically and which does not use any specific smear filter paper. CONSTITUTION:Arms 3a and 3b for wiping the top and bottom surfaces of a drum 1 are supported so that they can rotate horizontally and rotate a little vertically, and an arm 3c for wiping the lateral surface is supported so that it can rotate horizontally and move upward and downward. At the fore ends of these arms, heads 5a, 5b and 5c for wiping the drum which can be shaken around the longitudinal axes of the arms are provided. Drive motors for making these arms and heads move are provided. Each head for wiping is brought to a filter paper holder 4 for it by the motion of the arm thereof, picks up one top sheet of stacked filter paper in the holder, by vacuum suction, and after it is shaken in a proper direction, wipes the whole of each surface of the drum rotating on a drum support, by the filter paper, with the movement of the arm. Thereafter it is shaken upward, inserted from below into a radiation detector 6 for it with the movement of the arm and subjected to measurement of radiation of the filter paper, and then it is moved to a filter paper discharge element to release the filter paper.

    • PURPOSE:To enable measurement accuracy to be improved by changing rotary speed according to a value of dead time generated at a detector. CONSTITUTION:A detector 6 detects the number of gamma rays at each position along with revolution at an initial speed by a rotary drive motor 3 of a radioactive waste 1. Then, presence or absence of generation of dead time and its ratio are inputted from a wave-height analyzer (MCA) 7 to a control device 8 at each t time. Then, when the dead time is generated by alpha%, the rotary speed is modified to 1/(1-alpha/100) of the initial speed based on this information. Further, when ratio of generation of dead time becomes beta% during the next t time, rotation is made at 1/(1-beta/100) of the initial speed during the next t time. Therefore, by changing the rotary speed of the next t time according to the generation ratio of the dead time at t time immediately before, live time of the detector 6 at an entire periphery of the waste 1 can be made to be equal, thus enabling radioactivity measurement accuracy of the waste 1 where a radioactive substance is scattered to be improved.
