摘要： PURPOSE:To make it possible to set the width of a transfer bus performing the data transfer between the disk control LSI and the signal processing LSI of a disk device to an arbitrary optimum bit width according to transfer speed. CONSTITUTION:A disk control LSI 10 and a signal processing LSI 20 are provided with counters 43 and 44, data width conversion circuits 41 and 42 and synchronizing detections 45. The counters 43 and 44 count the numbers of transferred bits, delimit data every time the numbers reach prescribed numbers of bits and impart the numbers of transfer surplus bits to the data width conversion circuits 41 and 42. The data width conversion circuits 41 and 42 convert the transfer widths of the input and output of transfer data by storing transfer data by a storage means storing the data as temporary storage data and selecting data lines by selection circuits having plural selecting methods. The synchronizing detections 45 detect the start location of transfer data and perform the settings of the counters 43 and 44. As a result, the numbers of pin of the disk control LSI and the signal processing LSI are reduced and the wiring amount of a device substrate is decreased.

SOLUTION: A servo control program in a control program stored in a ROM is divided into a seek program part and a following program part, and a RAM is provided in addition to the ROM, and at the time of starting up the device, the following program part is transferred and stored into the RAM. The following program part includes processing common to the servo control program as well. When a servo interruption 17 takes place, a seek program 11b is read out of the ROM under a seek control mode, whereas before and after this read-out operation, the common processing 11a as stated above is read out of the RAM, and is executed. Subsequently, an I/F program 12 in the control program is executed, and when the mode is shfited to a following control mode, a following program 13 is read out of the RAM and is executed, and subsequently, the I/F program 14 is executed.

These forms are integrated, an integrated value 103 is peak-held and thereby positions are made from the gray codes. SOLUTION: This is a timing chart showing that calibration of speed control is performed by reading out a track number on a magnetic disk medium and other control information properly and using them. After speed control by detecting back electromotive voltage of a VCM actuator is performed for a certain fixed time, feeding of a MR sense current and read-write-LSI are temporarily performed, positioning information on a magnetic disk medium is read out, and stability of control is secured by performing calibration of parameters used for speed control. Thereby, as positioning information on a magnetic disk medium is not always used, its operation can be controlled stably suppressing power consumption during idle seek operation. Use environment in which a portable system using a note type personal computer and the other magnetic disk device is operated with battery is improved.
