    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the generation of heat which reverse flows into an outer case via a cooling fin by providing a heat insulating wall, which also operates as a heat insulating layer for insulating heat from the heat radiating fin against the inside of outer case. SOLUTION: Heat transferred to a cooling fin 8 from the lower surface of a power module 2 is radiated mainly at the heat radiating surface to the atmosphere through natural convection or forcible convection of cooling fin. Meanwhile, a part of heat transferred to the radiating fin 8 raises the temperature of air in the side of heat insulating wall 22, and the air in the heat insulating layer 23 freely moves through the upper and lower openings of an outer case 21. The air heated by the heat radiating fin 8 always absorbs external from the opening of the outer case 21 by the natural convection to become to exhaust air. The temperature of the heat insulating wall 22 in contact with the heat insulating layer 23 rises only up to the temperature of the heat insulating layer 23, so that the temperature rise of the outer case 21 for accommodating electrolytic capacitors 4, 10, control printed circuit board 26, power circuit printed circuit board 27 and signal wiring 29 or the like or restrained.

    • PURPOSE:To increase the resistance value of a resistor for current limit charging, and to improve a current limiting effect while avoiding wasteful power consumption at the time of operation by installing an electromagnetic contactor in parallel with the resistor for current limit charging and providing a means controlling the opening and closing of the electromagnetic contactor. CONSTITUTION:An electromagnetic contactor 6 is mounted in parallel with a resistor 5 for current limit charging, and the opening and closing of the electromagnetic contactor 6 are controlled by a control circuit 9. The control circuit 9 transmits a control signal over the electromagnetic contactor 6 so that the electromagnetic contactor 6 is brought to an open state until the terminal voltage of a smoothing capacitor 3 reaches fixed voltage and the electromagnetic contactor 6 is closed when the terminal voltage reaches fixed voltage. Consequently, since currents are made to flow through the smoothing capacitor 3 through the resistor 5 for current limit charging when a power supply is connected or when the power supply is turned ON, excess inrush currents are not made to flow through the smoothing capacitor 3. Accordingly, an expensive circuit element such as a switching element is not broken.
