SOLUTION: The information providing system has a central distribution center 1, that produces and distributes information contents for advertisement/ promotion/service for newly published books, newly released music CDs or the like. Each of many sales shops 2 has a personal computer 20 and an FM transmitter 21. The personal computer 20 transmits its captured service information to the FM transmitter 21, where the information is frequency-modulated. Then the modulated information is transmitted in air via a nearby antenna 4. The electric field strength of this radio wave is selected to be within a freely usable and permissible range which is stipulated by the Radio Law. Consumers are given an FM exclusive receiver 5 for receiving a very weak radio FM wave from each antenna 4.
