摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent dust from being scattered in a machine chamber or being accumulated in the middle part of the machine chamber by arranging partition plates, which are brought into contact or non-contact with a footstep, in the front and in the back of a cleaning brush in the moving direction of the footstep in addition to the cleaning brush. SOLUTION: In the moving direction of a footstep 7, partition plates 16 are arranged in the front and the back of a cleaning brush 12. When an escalator is operated upward, the footstep 7 is moved toward the left and dust adhering to the footstep 7 is removed by means of the partition plate 16 so as to be scattered backward, however, the dust is not moved backward but accumulated in a part λ between the both partition plates 16 as the cleaning brush 12 is brought into contact with the footstep 7. When the escalator is operated downward, the footstep 7 is moved toward the right and dust adhering to the foot step 7 is removed by means of the partition plate 16 so as to be scattered backward, however, the dust is not moved backward but accumulated in a part &Ogr; between the both partition plates 16 as the cleaning brush 12 is brought into contact with the footstep 7. The partition plates 16 are brought close to the footstep 7 as much as possible if they are made of nonmetallic material, while a clearance (e) is arranged between the footstep 7 and the partition plates 7 if they are made of metallic material.

SOLUTION: Speed of a handrail belt 1 is detected when a magnet 24 fixed to a shaft 17 also rotates and voltage is generated in a coil 23 fixed to the outside of the magnet 24 since a roller 18 contacting with an inside surface of the handrail belt 1 rotates when the handrail belt 1 moves. These speed detecting parts are supported with a shaft 13 by an arm 15, and contact with an inside surface of the handrail belt 1 by dead weight of the speed detecting parts. Therefore, even if the handrail belt 1 rises by any cause, since it rises by following it, it does not separate from the handrail belt 1, and speed can be reliably detected.

When the handrail belt 1 and the roller 18 are raised by (h) from their contact position by setting the shaft 13 as the rotary center, the end of the arm 15 is raised by h1 so as to abut on the bending part 12a of the bracket 12, the further raising of the detecting part is restricted, and the detecting part can be prevented from being interfered with other materials.

The mounting angle of the cleaning brush 8 is changed by use of the elliptic hole of a bracket 12 to vertically mount the cleaning brush 8, for example, to a frame 1 so that the bristles 8b does not make contact with the footstep 7. According to this, the cleaning brush can be seen from the outside of the machine chamber, the mounting, regulation and inspection works can be easily performed, and the footsteps can be easily cleaned even in a passenger conveyor having a narrow vertical or longitudinal clearance between the footstep and the frame.

SOLUTION: A handrail belt 1 of an escalator is slided by a guide 4 held by a support 2, glass 3, and the like. In case of making the right side of the escalator the walking side, the right side handrail 1 is colored red, and the left side is colored blue for sorting by color. The handrail belt 1 of the escalator is therefore recognized easily by passenger relatively from a long distance, so that the passengers can easily discriminate on which side is the walking side with enough time before getting on the escalator. Passengers in a hurry and passengers not in a hurry can therefore get on in good order.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor capable of suppressing nonuniform motion of a step chain without providing a slip joint on a driving device when a dispersed driving system is adopted. SOLUTION: An idler sprocket 40 and an idler sprocket 55 are provided on an upper part side forming the upstairs side and the lower part side forming the downstairs side, respectively. On the idler sprockets 40, 55 an endless step chain 6 to which steps 7 for passengers are fixed is wound. At an intermediate part of each idler sprocket 44, 55, one or a plurality of driving devices 2 for driving and braking the step chain 6 are arranged. The driving devices 2 are provided with driving gears 10 having involute tooth shapes and engaged to the step chain 6. The driving gears 10 are engaged to only a chain 6u on an upper side of the step chain 6, for instance. In the vicinities of just above of the driving devices 2 or the whole area, chain suppressing members 23 for suppressing vertical movement of the step chain 6 are provided.
