    • PURPOSE:To save labor of setting self-diagnosis of control boards in an indoor unit and an outdoor unit respectively, by enabling execution of setting in one place by a remote control device. CONSTITUTION:A control mechanism 1 of a remote-control device 6 selects a mode of self-diagnosis of a control board by a setting device 3. For instance, the self-diagnosis mode of the control board is selected by the setting device 3, and in this mode, a code corresponding to the self-diagnosis of the control board of an indoor unit is set by the setting device 3. This control board self- diagnosis code of the remote control device 6 is stored in a storage mechanism 4 by the control mechanism 1 and also transmitted from a transmission mechanism 5 to a transmission mechanism 8 of the indoor unit 11 through a control line 15. Receiving this indoor unit control board self-diagnosis code, the indoor unit 11 executes a processing of the self-diagnosis by a control mechanism 7 and stores the result in a storage mechanism 9, while transmitting it from the transmission mechanism 8 to a transmission mechanism 5 of the remote control device 6 through the control line 15. On reception of the result, the remote control device 6 stores it in the storage mechanism 4 and also displays it on a display device 2.

    • PURPOSE:To facilitate designing and manufacturing of the air conditioner, by employing a plurality of multi-purpose outdoor units and a single indoor unit connected to the respective outdoor units for constituting a refrigerating cycle, and thereby making a most efficient use of the multi-purpose outdoor units. CONSTITUTION:Multi-purpose outdoor units 25, 26 comprise respectively compressor 27, 28 outdoor heat exchangers 29, 30, outdoor fans 31, 32, etc. On the other hand, an indoor unit 19 connected to the outdoor units 25, 26 comprises an indoor fan 5, indoor heat exchanger 12 having circuits corresponding to respective units 25, 26, etc. In case of employing two refrigerating cycle system, the indoor heat exchanger 12 is arranged such that heat exchanging medium circulating pipes 35 for outdoor unit 25 and that 36 for outdoor unit 26 are disposed in a zigzagged manner in heat exchanging fins 33. With such an arrangement, it is enabled to make the heat transfer area of an inoperative heat exchanger effective for an operative heat exchanger in case that the refrigerating cycle of either of the two outdoor units is kept at rest.
