    • A water chilling apparatus comprising a plurality of chilling modules each having a refrigerating cycle mainly composed of a compressor, a condensor, an evaporator and an expansion mechanism, and a control module having a water pump for feeding, to an object to be chilled, chilling water cooled down by the evaporator of each chilling module, a detector for detecting a temperature of the chilling water and a water temperature controller. A chilling ability of each chilling module in response to a variable frequency is kept at substantially the same level. A capacity of the compressor of each chilling module is variably controlled in a range between an upper limit capacity and a lower limit capacity. The water temperature controller is used to calculate a whole necessary capacity value needed in the compressors of all the chilling modules as a function as a deviation between a set value of the chilling water temperature and a chilling water temperature detected by the detector. The number of the operated chilling modules is controlled in response to the whole necessary capacity value and the upper and lower capacities of each of the chilling modules. The capacity of the compressor of each of the cooling modules is controlled so as to have a capacity value obtained by equally distributing the calculated whole necessary capacity value by the number of the operated chilling modules.

CONSTITUTION:By regulating a flow rate F on the fluid side of a heat exchanger 1 is regulated by a three-way valve 2, a fluid temperature T2 is controlled. A control circuit 4, to which a temperature sensor 7a to detect the fluid temperature T2 and a temperature sensor 7b to detect a temperature t1 of cooling water are connected, comprises a comparing circuit 4a to calculate a deviation T between the set fluid temperature T0 and the fluid temperature T2, a comparing circuit 4b to calculate a temperature difference at between the fluid temperature T2 and the temperature t1 of cooling water, a computing circuit 4c to compute a given valve opening V responding to the temperature difference T between the set fluid temperature T0 and the fluid temperature T2 and a temperature difference t between the fluid temperature T2 and the temperature t1 of cooling water, and a converting circuit 4d to output a computing result to an electric motor 3. Stable control of temperature is provided throughout a wide range of the cooling water temperature t1, and stable control of temperature is also provided in relation to a fluctuation in the temperature t1 of cooling water.

CONSTITUTION:The refrigerant gas compressed with a compressor 1 is sent to a condenser 3, and is cooled in cooling water and liquefied and becomes a liquid refrigerant. By the heat of evaporation at this time, the cooling water inside the cooling water passage 5 is cooled, and by the cooling water, the cooling of an LSI module becomes possible. A heat accumulator 7 is wrapped around the lower part of the compressor 1. Since the head accumulator 7 can absorb the heat generated by the motor inside the compressor 1 during operation and accumulate it, even if the atmospheric temperature inside the computer room drops due to the stoppage of the cooler and the computer main body 19, the heat accumulator 7 continues heating the compressor 1, so the liquid refrigerator does not stay in the compressor 1, and the start-up of a chiller unit becomes easy.

A controller 15 transmits and receives various data by a serial transmission to the controllers 16, 17, and calculates the number of the modules to be operated, and the frequency of the inverter according to a deviation between the temperature of the cold water sensed by a water temperature sensor 6 and a set cold water temperature.
