    • PURPOSE:To contrive the high speed of discharging pulse glow and to reduce the withstand voltage of a switching circuit in the gas laser device by retaining continuous glow discharge with an electric input less than threshold and executing pulse glow discharge as superimposed with this glow discharge. CONSTITUTION:An anode 7, a cathode 8 and trigger electrode 10 are contained in a laser tube 1 filled with laser medium therein. A power supply circuit having a DC high voltage power supply 4, a switching circuit 5 and a discharge stabilizing ballast resistor 6 connected in series with each other is connected between the anode 7 and the cathode 8, the power supply 4 and the circuit 4 are operated, and a voltage is applied between the anode 7 and the cathode 8, and a glow discharge is generated between the cathode 8 and the electrode 10. Then, a glow discharge is generated between the anode 7 and the cathode 8 by the discharge trigger operation, the laser tube 1 is excited therein, and the laser light 11 is irradiated through a concave reflecting mirror 2 and a plane output mirror 3. The circuit 5 is operated in this operation, a pulse glow discharge 13 is executed as superimposed with the continuous glow discharge 12, and the withstand voltage of the circuit 5 is reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a stable laser output constantly by a method wherein the CO content in laser beams is set in desired limits after the passage of the beams through a catalyst part irrespective of the volume of injection power of glow discharge. CONSTITUTION:A laser medium 2 containing CO2 gas is filled up in a discharge tube 1. Glow discharge 5 is generated between electrodes 3 and 4, thereby CO2 is excited and laser beams 6 are generated. The laser beams 6 are reflected between mirrors 7 and 8 and a part thereby is taken out to the outside through the intermediary of the mirror 8. The laser medium 2 is cooled by a heat exchanger 10 located in a circulation channel 9 and CO and O2 are combined at a catalyst 12. The 1st region 12A of the honeycomb-shaped catalyst 12 prepared by impregnating Al2O3 with Pt is heated by a heater so as to be kept at the temperature at which the oxidation characteristic of CO shows saturation, while the 2nd region 12B thereof is kept at the temperature at which CO is not oxidized nearly at all. Since the CO content in the laser medium after passage thereof through the catalyst part can be controlled to take a desired value by changing the area ratio between the 1st and 2nd regions, the laser output can be stabilized.

    • PURPOSE:To miniaturize a laser equipment and improve its total effeciency by arranging discharge pipes in two lines and by making discharge pipes shift in position from the center shaft corresponding to discharge mouths of blowers. CONSTITUTION:Four discharge pipes 1a and 1b at one side and 2a and 2b at the other side are arrayed in two lines. In discharge pipes, gas increasing in temperature through discharging is circulated by the corresponding 1st centrifugal blower 6a or 2nd centrifugal blower 6b and then cooled by 1st heat exchanger 7a or 2nd heat exchanger 7b. Two blowers 6a and 6b are arranged facing each other and discharge mouths 10 of 1st blower 6a and 2nd blower 6b are connected to insulating cylinders 9a and 9b respectively and separately. In addition, since discharge mouth 10 shift from center shafts 11 of blowers respectively, 1st and 2nd blowers can be arranged, facing each other, between two columns of discharge pipes, and the positions of discharge pipes are made to shift from center shafts and to correspond to shifts of discharge mouths. Consequently, the equipment can be miniaturized and the total efficiency of it can be also improved.
