    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fix a spacer stably to an anode substrate and a cathode substrate in order to maintain a spacing between the anode substrate and the cathode substrate against the atmospheric pressure.
      SOLUTION: The adhesion width of a crystalline frit glass 41 is larger than the adhesion width of an amorphous frit glass 42. In this case, the quantity of the frit glass 41 is larger than the quantity of the frit glass 42, and the contact angle of the frit glass 41 to the anode substrate 2 is smaller than the contact angle of the frit glass 42 to the cathode substrate 1. This structure is owing to the fact that when the anode substrate 2 is adhered by the frit glass 41, the frit glass 42 is also baked in a state of being coated on a spacer. Thereby, the spacer 4 can be installed stably and it is prevented that solvent from the frit glass remains in an FED.

Or, it is so structured to have particle-dispersed oxide thin film with a substance showing metallic conductivity in an oxide matrix on the surface of a glass base material, and further, to have an oxide thin film made of oxide showing semiconductor-like conductivity on top of the above.

      SOLUTION: In the image display device provided with a cathode substrate with a cold-cathode element formed, an anode substrate with a phosphor formed, and a spacer arranged between the cathode substrate and the anode substrate for supporting both the substrates, the spacer is structured of a matter made of glass with transition metal oxide as a main ingredient, with a density of the transition metal element at a surface part of the spacer higher than that inside the spacer. Since an electric resistance at the surface part is lower than that inside the spacer, it is easier to remove static charge at electron irradiation, and a deflection quantity of the electron beams can be reduced. With this, high voltage can be impressed, and improvement of image quality can be aimed at.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damages of a sealing body due to cutting of a tab suspension lead and a deformation of the tab suspension lead. SOLUTION: In a semiconductor device, a semiconductor chip fixed to a tab is electrically connected to leads which are disposed in a column shape surrounding this semiconductor chip and are exposed outside of the sealing body to serve as an external terminal, and the tab suspension leads which are sealed with the sealing body for supporting the tab are disposed at four corners of the sealing body and are exposed at an outer end of the sealing body. The tab suspension lead of a portion exposed at the outer end of the sealing body is spread in its width and a lock part is provided in the vicinity of an outer edge of the sealing body of the tab suspension lead. In a method for manufacturing the semiconductor device, the deformation of the tab suspension lead is prevented by the lock part, while the tab suspension lead is cut to divide into individual semiconductor devices separately. According to this structure, the tab suspension lead at the outer end of the sealing body is spread in its width, thereby reducing damages of the sealing body and preventing the deformation of the tab suspension lead by the lock part provided in the vicinity of the outer edge of the sealing body of the tab suspension lead.
