    • PURPOSE:To enable precise and nondestructive detection of the degree of deterioration and the degree of damage of a material to be inspected, by impressing a minute alternating-current magnetic field on the material locally while impressing thereon a direct-current magnetic field widely and uniformly, and by detecting a change in the magnetic flux density of the material. CONSTITUTION:A direct-current magnet 10, a magnetic sensor 11 and a small- sized alternating-current magnet 12 are arranged from above and put in one body by a sensor holder 100 formed of a nonmagnetic insulative material. A minute alternating-current magnetic field is impressed for excitation on a material 40 pipe to be inspected, by the magnet 12 disposed near the material 40, while a base magnetic field is impressed on the material by the magnet 10. The magnet 12 is driven by a low frequency of several hertz or below on the occasion so as to prevent generation of an eddy current. Then, a minute change in magnetism accompanying deterioration and damage of the material 40 to be inspected is detected by the magnetic sensor 11 and the degree of deterioration and the degree of damage of the material 40 are determined from data on the change.

    • PURPOSE:To simply and certainly detect the local change in the wall thickness of a pipe from outside, by detecting the temp. changes, saturation temps. and saturation time of the piping for thermal machinery by a plurality of the temp. sensors provided to the surface of said piping to compare them with each other. CONSTITUTION:Semi-annular thermometric pipes 1, 1' having a plurality of the temp. sensors 1a, 1a', 1a''... provided to the inner surfaces thereof are mounted to the outer sides of the parts to be measured of a pipe using clamp holes 1b, 1b'.... The outputs from the temp. sensors 1a, 1a', 1a''... are collected to a connector 1c and sent to an analytical part by cables and the temp. changes, saturation temps. and saturation time are detected to be compared. When the temp. of the fluid passing through the pipe is not high, the pipe is heated by the supply of a current to the parts to be measured, electromagnetic induction or the irradiation of said parts with laser beam. By this method, the state of the wall thickness of the pipe is simply detected from outside. This method is suitable for the maintenance and inspection of a steam power plant.
