摘要： PURPOSE:To suppress the deformation of a channel box by disposing a Venturi means delineated with flow passages by the inside surfaces of the channel box and the side faces on the outer side of a lower tie plate between the box and the plate. CONSTITUTION:Recesses 12 of a depth (b) are provided on the respective side faces 4A on the four sides of the lower tie plate 4. The recesses 12 are rectangu lar in shape and open toward the outer side. Slopes 13 inclining at an angle are formed atop the recesses. Clearances 14, 15 of widths G1, G2 are formed between the plate 4 and the inside surfaces of the box 8 and are directly opened into the coolant flow passages. The coolant flow passages 17 are small in the sectional area of the flow passages in the part of the clearance 14, is large in the part of the clearance 15 and is large in the flow passage area in the part upper than the clearance 14 part. The side faces 4A, the slopes 13 and a base 12A as well as the inside surfaces of the box 8, therefore, constitute the Venturi means which internally includes the flow passages 17. The pressure on the inner side of the box 8 is consequently smaller than the pressure on the outer side and the box 8 is pressed to the side face 4A side, by which the deformation toward the outer side is suppressed.

摘要： PURPOSE:To facilitate operations of inserting a spring material into a supporting plate by lessening the height of the supporting plate on the side where the spring material is inserted to the height of spring material in its width portion, and arranging so that the supporting plate passes the wider portion of the spring material. CONSTITUTION:One end of a supporting plate 20 is folded, and a spring material 11 is inserted into the plate 20. Insertion is made from the side where the angle of the plate 20 is missing. The foremost of the plate 20 is passed through the wider portion of the spring material 11 and secured to the set position for the plate 20. Thereby the plate 20 is passed through the wider portion of the spring material 11, so that this part of spring material 11 has a gap good larger than the thickness of the plate 20, which will thus pass the wider portion of the spring material 11 to allow it to be inserted easily.

摘要： PURPOSE:To achieve strength reliability of a spacer by securing the strength of the spacer simultaneously with a reduction in pressure loss in a nuclear fuel assembly. CONSTITUTION:In a spacer 4B positioned above the upper end of fuel rods of unfull length, round cells 1 are arranged at all positions corresponding to fuel rods 7 between bathtubs 3 facing each other and there is no round cells at the positions corresponding to the unfull-length fuel rods in other areas. The unfull-length fuel rods are arranged only below the positions void of the round cells of the spacer 4B. In other embodiments, the round cells are removed with a spacer 4D and a spacer 4E which have the round cells 1 existing at all positions corresponding to the fuel rods 7 between the bathtubs 3 facing each other so that the positions void of the round cells shift and these spacers 4D and 4E are arranged alternately in the axial direction of the fuel rods.

摘要： PURPOSE:To reduce pressure loss at a spacer part, and to have a water rod, the cross sectional shape of which is changed at the spacer part, moored on the spacer, without reducing output. CONSTITUTION:The diameter of a water rod 2 at a position where a spacer 3 is installed is made thinner than the diameter of the water rod 2 at a place where the spacer 3 is not installed, at least at one point, and a bypass region of furnace water is thus formed. A T-shaped protruded member is provided on a thin diametrical part, and the water rod 2 is held by the spacer 3 through the member. A recessed part is provided on the water rod 2 in a place where the spacer 3 is installed, and an angular cross section, the top part of which has almost the same size as the diameter of the water rod 2, is thus formed.

CONSTITUTION:Each fuel rod 26 and water rod 27 are supported in each single cylinder cell by a spring 25 and a supporting projection 23 provided in a cylindrical cell 22, which are joined to them. In other words, surface rubbing of the fuel rod 26 and the water rod 27 with the spring 25 and the supporting projection 23 is eliminated, and therefore wear of the fuel rod 26 and the water rod 27 being the most important members is eliminated.

CONSTITUTION:An upper and a lower ends of a fuel assembly for a light water reactor, is constrained by a plurality of fuel rods, an upper tie plate and a lower tie plate 4, and an intermediate part part is constituted by fuel bundles 5 which are regularly lined and supported by a plurality of spacers 3, and by a channel box 6 which contains the bundles 5. At the lower tie plate 4, a plane shaped pressure loss urging plate 8 is provided along an outer edge of a grid surface 3, and an end tip of the plate 8 has an edge shape having an acute angle at its channel box side. With this configuration, a leaking flow amount 11 from a gap 10 between the channel box 6 and the lower tie plate 4, can be reduced.

That is, though the pressure in the leakage passage is larger than the static pressure of the passage 7 in the inlet of the first passage part 6a, the former becomes equal to the latter in a certain position of the inlet of the first passage part, the former becomes smaller than the latter in the inlet of the second passage part 6b, a difference between the pressure and the static pressure of the passage 7 becomes smaller in the second passage part 6b, and they become equal in the leakage flow outlet 5. Accordingly, a throat part 2b, an enlarged part 2c and a parallel part 2d are pulled to the channel box 3 side to reduce the area of the leakage passage 6.

CONSTITUTION:In a fuel channel box 7, the thicknesses of a corner-part region 8a and a side-surface-part region 8b are made uniformly thick in a lower-end-part region 8 from the lower end. In an intermediate lower region 9, the thickness of a corner-part region 9a is made equal to the thickness of the region 8, and the thickness of a side- surface-part region 9b is made to be more than 60% and less than 80% of the region 9a. In an intermediate-upper-part region 10, the thickness of a corner-part region 10 is made equal to the region 8, and the thickness of a side-surface-part region 10b is made to be more than 50% and less than 75% of the thickness of the region 10a. The thickness of an upper-end-part region 11 is made equal to the thickness of the lower end-part region 8. Thus, the maximum deformation amount at the time of earthquake is controlled, and the flattening of the power distribution of the fuel assembly in the axial direction and the improvement in neutron economy can be achieved without preventing control-rod inserting property.

摘要： PURPOSE:To secure gaps between fuel rods and cells by giving recesses in the axial direction formed by projections to support the inserted fuel rods, to the peripheries of at least some cells, setting the peripheries of the neighboring cells to the recesses, and making the neighboring cells abut to the peripheries each other. CONSTITUTION:A fuel spacer 5 is composed by providing nemerous cylindrical sells 6 in a lattice form in a rectangular outer frame 30. In the assembling condition of the cells 6, fuel rods 2 are inserted in the cells 6, and they are held by two projections 7 and a spring 8 respectively. Furthermore, on the periphery of each cell 6, a recess 9 in the axial direction is formed by the projections 7, and the periphery 10 of the neighboring cell 6 is set to the recess 9, so as to compose the abutting part of the neighboring cells 6 each other. The projections 7 are formed at two positions of the cell 6 parting 90 deg., and by forming the recesses 9 and providing the cells 6 to abut to the recesses, they can be arranged in a square lattice form. In such a way, the diameter of the fuel rods 2 can be made larger, and the uranium loading amount can be increased about 3%.
