摘要： PURPOSE:To confine a display liquid into microregions and to facilitate the easy injection of the display liquid by forming many approximately spherical cavities communicating with each other into a hermetic space. CONSTITUTION:A transparent substrate 6d formed with transparent electrodes 6c and a rear insulating substrate 6a are fixed apart a required spacing via a spacer 6b to form the hermetic space and the many approximately spherical cavities communicating with each other are formed in this hermetic space. The panel is constructed by preparing the approximately spherical beads solvent soluble in a solvent and holding the same with polyvinyl alcohol. The 2nd substrate is laminated as the rear insulating substrate 6as via the spacer 6b to form an electrophoretic cell 6 and thereafter, acetone is injected into the cell to dissolve away the uni-resin beads. After the approximately spherical cavities communicating with each other are formed in such a manner, the acetone is removed and the display liquid is injected. The display liquid is confined into the microregions in this way and the injection of the display liquid is facilitated.

The same display liquid 7 as the dispersion medium 2 form a dispenser 6 is then dripped near a cathode 3. Thus the colored fine particles having a negative charge are migrated in diagonal downward direction and, therefore, the particles are very easily movable by electrophoresis and the particles which are not easily movable can be separated to the right and left of a partition plate 5. The liquid on the right side is drawn and used. The particles increased in apparent particle size by flocculation may be removed as well.

CONSTITUTION:The back insulating substrate 101 is constituted by laminating and fixing a polyethylene terephthalate film 102 and a polyethylene terephthalate film 103 which is made conductive and adhered and fixed to a transparent substrate 105 such as a glass plate across spacers 104 so that the film 103 is on the side of the surface where the electrostatic image is formed, thereby forming a sealed space. A transparent electrode 106 is made of ITO, etc., and electrophoresis display liquid 107, obtained by suspending paraffin hydrocarbon as a dispersant, titanium dioxide as white particulates, blue dye, a stabilizer, etc., is charged in the sealed space to constitute the electrophoresis display panel. The surface resistance of the film 103 where the electrostatic image is formed with corona ions is 5X10 -5X10 . An image with a 5.5 contrast is obtained by this device, there is no image blur generated, and even when the device is used repeatedly, the image has neither display irregularity nor erasure defect.

Electrophoresis dispersing liquid 7 is injected into the substrate, which is sealed with epoxy resin to obtain the electrophoresis display panel 6. The sticking of particulates on the transparent electrode surface is reduced and the display panel, therefore, has a high contrast and no decrease in the contrast. Consequently, the display quality is greatly improved.
