摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To peel off a magnetic recording layer in a short time and to obtain a reusable and flawless base easily, while attaining environmental protection, by immersing the base in an alkali water solution after the surface of the magnetic recording layer is ground, and then by peeling the magnetic recording layer by blowing a water flow against it. SOLUTION: For grinding the surface of a magnetic recording layer, it is sufficient to shave off the surface of this layer including a protective layer, by 0.5-1.5 μm, and it is unnecessary to shave off the magnetic recording layer to a large extent. The content of sodium silicate or sodium hydroxide in an alkali water solution to immerse a magnetic recording medium showing off the protective layer of the surface of the magnetic recording layer therefrom is 3-7 wt.% preferably. The alkali water solution is heated beforehand to 50-80 deg.C preferably. The magnetic recording medium wherefrom the protective layer is removed is immersed in the alkali water solution for about 20-50 minutes desirably. Moreover, the pressure of a water flow blown against the magnetic recording layer is 200-900 kg/cm2 preferably.
