    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate any incompatible feelings in use for a wheelchair user. SOLUTION: An electric auxiliary device installed in the front wheel side of a wheelchair and supported on the different steps of the rear wheel of the wheelchair and an escalator is provided with rack devices 4L and 4R having rack 19 moved back and forth in upper and lower directions by a motor 15, wheel units 5L and 5R connected to the rack 19 so as to be freely swung and locked in the step part of the escalator, a detecting bar 6 connected to the wheel units 5L and 5R so as to be freely swung and provided in parallel with the rack 19 to generate a positional deviation in a longitudinal direction by the inclination of the wheelchair in a forward/backward direction, a sensor unit 7 for detecting mutual positional deviation between the rack 19 and the detecting bar 6, and a controller for driving the motor 15 so a to maintain the wheelchair at a specified angle in response to a signal from the sensor unit 7 and moving the rack 19 backward or forward. Also, this auxiliary device is provided with driving side unit and follower side units to be individually loaded in both of left and right sides and, via a synchronous shaft, the rack is moved back and forth in the upper and lower directions in synchronization.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent stumbling due to low height step difference on a floor face by rotatably providing guide rings having spherical outer circumferential faces on both sides of a main wheel. SOLUTION: A main wheel 12 is an ordinary circular disc-shaped wheel. Guide rings 13, 13 are formed out of a synthetic resin in the same form, symmetrically arranged on both sides of the main wheel 12, so as to be cut out a sphere of the same diameter of the main wheel 12 and a little cut off the back side and the opposite side of the hemisphere of the sphere respectively, and they are rotatably supported with a wheel shaft 17 respectively in common with the main wheel in the condition of sandwiching the main wheel from both sides with the faces on the large diameter side. Consequently, the main wheel 12 and the guide rings 13, 13 are formed into a wheel part of the outer circumferential face of one almost spherical body as a whole. A dimensional difference (d) exists between the maximum radius of the main wheel 12 and the maximum radius of the guide ring 13, and when the wheel shaft 17 is horizontally placed on a horizontal floor face, the main wheel 12 only is contacted with the floor face.
