摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which achieves high capacity and good cycle characteristics.SOLUTION: In a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, a negative electrode active material of a negative electrode contains an element X and an element M. The element X is at least one element selected from a group consisting of Si, Sn, Al, Pb, Sb, Bi, Ge, In, and Zn. The element M is at least one element selected from a group consisting of transition metal elements belonging to Groups IV to XI. The negative electrode active material of the negative electrode is formed of nano-sized particles each having at least a first phase, i.e., an elementary substance or a solid solution of Si, and a second phase, i.e., a compound of Si and the element M. An electrolyte contains an organic substance which has an unsaturated bond in a molecule and is capable of reducing polymerization.

SOLUTION: Nanosized particles include an element (A) and an element (M) that are different types. The element (A) is at least one element chosen from a group of Si, Sn, Al, Pb, Sb, Bi, Ge, In and Zn, and the element (M) is at least one element chosen from a group of Cu, Ag and Au. The particles have a first phase that is a simple substance or solid solution of the element (A) and a second phase that is a compound of the element (A) and the element (M), or a simple substance or solid solution of the element (M), both of the first and second phases being exposed to an outer surface, and the first and second phases have spherical shapes. There is also provided a negative electrode material for a lithium ion secondary battery including the nanosized particles as a negative-electrode active material.
