    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dust preventing device for a joint improved in durability of the joint connecting a drive shaft member to a driven shaft member.
      SOLUTION: This dust preventing device is applied to the joint having a joint case 11 and an inner member 13 incorporated therein, and has a boot 21 and a boot fixture 31. The boot 21 has a peripheral wall portion 22 abutting on the end surface 11a of the joint case 11 and a cover portion 24 integrally connected to the peripheral wall portion. The peripheral wall portion 22 has higher rigidity than that the cover portion 24. The boot fixture 31 has a fitting portion 32 fitted around the periphery of the joint case 11 and a cylindrical member 34 covering the peripheral wall portion 22. The boot 21 is directly fixed to the joint case 11 by the boot fixture 31.

An elastic layer 22a for closely contacting with an outer peripheral surface 2s of the shaft part is integrally provided on an inner peripheral surface as of the first fastening part along a circumferential direction and the elastic layer is set to have a lower hardness than the first end.
