    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form the groove of a narrow width and to increase the density for a disk. SOLUTION: A laser beam is intensity-modulated by an EOM 2 and made incident on a modulation optical system 5. Even when a linear velocity is changed in a radial direction by an APC 4, the optical output of the laser beam transmitted through the EOM 2 is stabilized. A light beam is converged to an AOM 6 and the light beam is modulated by DC signals and pit signals. The AOM 6 is controlled so as to change the optical output linearly and separately for a pit and the groove. An exposure beam emitted from the modulation optical system 5 is made incident on an AOD 10, optically deflected, led through a mirror M2, a polarizing beam splitter PBS, a lens L3 and a mirror M3 to an objective lens 14 and converged on a photoresist film 16 by the objective lens 14.
