SOLUTION: This optical recording medium comprises a constitution having a recording layer including a coloring matter material expressed at least with general formula (1) and a coloring matter material expressed with general formula (2) on a light transmitting board. In the formula (1), R1 represents a 1-4C alkyl group and R2 and R3 represent each a 1-4C alkyl group, a benzyl group, groups forming 3- to 6-membered ring through connection with one another, Y 1 and Y 2 represent independently an organic group and X represents a ClO 4 , a BF 4 , a PF 6 or a SbF 6 .     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a stable recording even by a laser beam of a low power while maintaining a high reflectance of a recording layer by adopting a compound which shows a heating reaction as an organic coloring matter, in an optical recording medium equipped with an organic coloring matter film containing the organic coloring matter as the recording layer. SOLUTION: When information is recorded on an optical disk 1, a laser beam is irradiated to a recording layer 3 from a base 2 side. Then, an organic coloring matter of the recording layer 3 at the section, to which the laser beam has been irradiated, heats and decomposes. As a result, the section, wherein the organic coloring matter has been decomposed, has a different reflectance from the other section, and a pit is formed in the recording layer 3. In this case, in the recording layer 3, an organic coloring matter, of which the decomposing reaction is a heating reaction, is contained. By this constitution, even when a laser beam of a low power is used, an insufficient heating value for the recording is compensated by a heating value generated when the organic coloring matter decomposes, and a stable recording is performed. As such an organic coloring matter, a direct dye such as a cyanine coloring matter and others are adopted.
