    • PURPOSE:To improve the adhesiveness between a protective film and optical disk recording layer and to extend the life of a recording medium for an optical disk by providing a mixed layer composed of a material constituting the recording layer and a material constituting the protective layer on the surface of the recording layer and forming the protective film while oxidizing thermally the mixed layer. CONSTITUTION:The recording layer 2 consisting of Te or Te alloy, etc. is formed by vacuum deposition to a prescribed film thickness on a substrate 1 which is a glass disk, PMMA disk, etc. The vapor deposition of Si to be formed as the protective film is started from the end period of the formation of such recording layer to form the mixed layer 3 composed of the recording layer consisting of Te and Si on the surface of the recording layer 2.     • PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium generating little noise and having superior mechanical strength by reducing chromium oxide (CrO2) and adding the resulting dichromium trioxide (Cr2O3) having an org. film on the surface as a reinforcing agent for a medium. CONSTITUTION:Needlelike powder of CrO2 having about 0.5mum uniform grain size is reduced to obtain nonmagnetic Cr2O3 with high hardness usable as a reinforcing agent for the coated film of a magnetic recording medium. The reduction of CrO2 as a magnetic material and the surface modification to improve the dispersibility are simultaneously attained by carrying out heat treatment in an atmosphere contg. an org. solvent. For example, a reaction (a) in a gaseous nitrogen atmosphere contg. ethanol proceeds more rapidly than a reaction (b) in a gaseous nitrogen atmosphere because CrO2 acts as an oxidizing agent for the org. solvent. Cr2O3 obtd. at a relatively low temp. such as 250-300 deg.C is needlelike powder with high hardness and a fine shape, and the powder has high dispersibility in a magnetic coating material (magnetic medium) and can reduce noise from the medium. The preferred amount of Cr2O3 added as a reinforcing agent is 3-20%, especially 5-13%.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain a disc which prevents the head crush owing to a collision between a flexible recording medium and a floating type head even if the disc is rotated at a high speed by providing an annular projecting part on a hard substrate, fixing a flexible recording medium on the annular projecting part and providing a gap between the medium and the substrate. CONSTITUTION:An annular projecting part 2'-2' is provided on one or both surfaces of a hard substrate 2 of Al, resin or the like, and a flexible disc medium 1 is fixed to the surfaces A, B of the part 2'-2'. If a space 3 is provided in the above-mentioned way, the crush of a floating head 4 is prevented on account of a buffer effect in the space 3 even if the head collides against the medium 1 during rotation at a high speed.
