    • PURPOSE: To enhance paint coating quality and workability by a method wherein air pressure is imparted to a surface of a magnetic paint stored in a tank only during a period sending said paint under pressure as well as driving of a stirrer is interrupted only during said period.
      CONSTITUTION: A synchronization control apparatus for synchronizing operation of a screw type stirrer 8 and a pressurized air valve 10 is provided. In a three-way solenoid pressurized air valve 101, IN and OUT are communicated when pressure is applied and OUT and EX and communicated when pressure is not applied and, during this time, a vlave body is revolved in an angle of 90°C. By this movement, a dog 103 kicks an actuator of a sensor 203 to pressurize a tank and, at the same time, to open a leak port 9 and, thereby, a magnetic paint is emitted onto a running substrate 4 of a magnetic recording medium from a nozzle 3 as well as stirring is interrupted. Further, when paint emission of a predetermined time is finished, a leak port valve 9 is closed and, at the same time, the pressurized air valve 101 is turned to open the tank to the atmospheric pressure and, again, the stirrer 8 begins movement.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the durability of a coating surface and the retentivity of lubricating oil by uniformly generating many micropores holding lubricating oil in a magnetic disk coating surface by mixing goethite powder with magnetic powder at a specific-range rate and then by carrying out a heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:To prevent the disk and magnetic head of a magnetic disk unit, providing contact start/stop operation, from damaging each other, a coating is formed of a mixture of magnetic powder and 5-55wt% of goethite (FeO.OH) powder, a heat treatment is carried out at about 250 deg.C low enough for a binder not to deteriorate so as to change FeO.OH into alphaFe2O3, and through the vaporing of water occurring at this time, micropores of molecular lavel are formed. Since alphaFe2O3 is nonmagnetic and in the same form as gammaFe2O3, lubricating oil is held by impregnating without exerting a bad influence on recording, reproduction and head abrasion. The durability of the magnetic coating film can therefore be improved.

    • PURPOSE:To detect accurate film thickness by moving a light beam periodically in the direction where the film thickness changes, and detecting the attainment of a desired film thickness from the intensity of the reflected interference light thereof. CONSTITUTION:A detector 3 is moved together with a light source 2 periodically in the radial direction of a disc 1 at a frequency f0 and the light beam from the source 2 moves periodically in the radial direction of the disc 1 around the position P for detecting the film thickness. During this time, the coating film is polished by a polishing device, by which the film thickness is decreased gradually. At the film thickness at which the reflected interference light produces an extremal value, the signal of a frequency 2f0 is generated. The signal is supplied through a filter 18 then through a detector 9 to a comparator 10, from which an H signal is outputted. The signal of the frequency 2f0 is fed to a peak detector 14, by which an H signal is outputted. The H signal in accordance with the beam moving signal is outputted from a comparator 17. Thus an H signal is outputted from an AND circuit 18, and the attainment of the prescribed film thickness is accurately detected.
