    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to avert the influence of the Fresnel reflection at connecting end faces even if a refractive index matching gent is not used, to facilitate optical axis alignment and to suppress the light loss in a juncture by inclining the end faces of the ends of optical fibers to a prescribed angle and varying the respective outside diameters thereof. SOLUTION: The respective connecting end faces 1B, 2B of the optical fibers 1, 2 are inclined in the same direction at a prescribed angle θ. The light emitted from the connecting end face 1B of the optical fiber 1 refracts according to the angle θ of inclination of the connecting end face 1B and is made incident on the connecting end face 2B of the optical fiber 1. Namely, the state that the optical fibers are connected by having a misalignment component (s) of the optical axis 2A of the optical fiber 2 from the optical axis 1A of the optical fiber 1 is made into the state of the min. connection loss by the optical alignment of the optical fibers 1A, 2A. The outside diameters of the optical fibers 1A, 2A may be determined from the misalignment component of the optical axis. The outside diameters may be determined when the ends of the optical fibers incline at a prescribed angle.

    • PURPOSE:To automatically inspect the disconnection, cross wiring, shorting, etc., of the respective coated fibers of multifiber optical cables and metallic cables by automatically switching and connecting the device to the respective coated fibers. CONSTITUTION:This inspection device has a light source section 1, an incident side coated fiber switching section 4 which is capable of switching and supplying the light from this light source section 1 to the incident ends of the respective coated fibers 3 of the optical cable 2 to be inspected, an exit side coated fiber switching section 5 which is capable of switching and connecting to the exit ends of the respective coated fibers 3, an inspection and deciding section 6 which receives the light from this exit side coated fiber switching section 5 and inspects and decides the disconnection, cross wiring, etc., of the respective coated fibers 3 of the optical cable 2 to be inspected, the input side metallic cable 8 which is switched and connected between the inspection and deciding section 6 and the input side of the metallic cable 7 to be inspected, the output side metallic cable 9 which is connected between the output side of the metallic cable 7 to be inspected and the inspection and deciding section 6 and a control section 10 which controls the light source section 1, the input side coated fiber switching section 4, the exit side coated fiber switching section 5 and the inspecting and deciding section 6. The inspection and deciding section 6 is constituted that the disconnection, cross wiring, etc., of the metallic cable 7 to be inspected can be inspected and decided.
