    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the variance in height of a bump and to shorten the processing time in a texture processing where pulse laser light obtained from continuously oscillated laser light is used to form the bump on a glass substrate. SOLUTION: At the time of irradiating a glass substrate 8 with a converged light spot, the irradiation section of the converged light spot is preliminarily formed in an ellipse, and its minor diameter ds is set in the peripheral direction of the glass substrate 8. The converged light spot is scanned relatively in the direction of the minor diameter from the irradiation start point shown by a solid line to the irradiation end point shown by the double dotted chain line through the irradiation halfway point shown by the alternate short and long dash line. As the result, the irradiated area is approximately circular to form a false circle-shaped conic bump. The pulse width and the ellipticity are optimized without increasing the power density of laser, thereby realizing a prescribed bump height and forming a bump plane into a circle regardless of the increase of the relative rotation speed of the substrate 8.

When the integrated optical system consisting of a bend mirror 2 and collective lens 3 is rotated around the optical axis O, the converged beam point scans so as to move peripherally around the rotating center, switching in sequence by time sharing method and being made incidence on each optical fiber 4 dispersedly arranged on the scanning locus. In the case of the arrangement that many optical fibers is placed in short pitch interval, the laser beam is smoothly subjected to time sharing, being made incidence on the optical fiber 4 to be transmitted.

    • PURPOSE:To maintain a reflectivity high for a long period by composing a reflector for surrounding a laser medium and an exciting light source to be contained in a sealed vessel of an elliptical cylinder of glass finished in a mirror surface, and using a gap formed to the inner wall in the vessel as a cooling medium passage. CONSTITUTION:A reflector 10 is formed of heat resistant glass, formed as a thin elliptical cylinder for surrounding a laser medium 1 and an exciting light source 2, and its outer peripheral surface is formed as a mirror surface 11. The reflector 10 is carried at a holder 20, the holder 20 is formed of a metal block having excellent thermal conductivity, the inner surface 21 opposed to the reflector 10 is formed substantially in an elliptical state along the outer periphery of the reflector 10 of the mirror surface 11, and a gap G is provided between the inner surface 21 and the surface 11. The gap is used as a cooling medium passage to cool the elliptically cylindrical reflector from both side surfaces with cooling medium to prevent peeling of mirror surface forming metal coating from the glass and damage of the glass based on thermal stress. Thus, its reflectivity can be maintained highly for a long period.

    • PURPOSE:To avoid a decrease in the reflection factor of a coating due to a cooling medium, particularly pure water, by finishing a reflection surface of an excitation light reflector for a solid laser device into a silver mirror surface and by coating the silver mirror surface with a thin film of titanium oxide so as to use the surface as a reflector. CONSTITUTION:A reflector 10 comprises a cylindrical silver mirror surface 12 in an body 11 and by coating the silver mirror surface 12 with a titanium oxide thin film 13. The mirror surface is formed in, for example, an elliptical surface. A laser medium 1 and an excitation light source 2 are rod-shaped and they are disposed so that their centers are positioned on two respective focuses of the ellipse of the mirror surface. Almost all excitation light EL from excitation light source 2 are reflected by the elliptical surface of the silver mirror surface and toward the laser medium 1. When the laser medium 1 is not a cylindrical rod but a flat slab, the silver mirror is shaped different from the ellipse, and two excitation light sources 2 are generally disposed according to a pair of flat planes. An inner cavity surrounded by the silver mirror surface 12 of the reflector 10 is filled with a cooled medium CM, e.g., pure water. The water is made to flow in the direction perpendicular to the surface of the drawing to cool the laser medium 1 and the excitation light source 2 intensely.

    • PURPOSE:To cause no blow hole nor pit on a weld zone and to obtain the weld zone having high reliability in the strength and aritightness as well by forming the dry thin film of water glass on the surface of the weld zone of two members to be welded and by performing a laser beam welding by transmitting the thin film thereof. CONSTITUTION:A water glass 11 is coated so as to cover a butt line 10. In this case, the water glass is coated over the fixing base 9 on which two plates 7, 8 are lined not only run along the butt line 10. The water glass is solidified with its drying and the transparent thin film having the strength linking itself and the adhesive force to the plates 7, 8 and fixing stand 9 is formed. Then when a laser beam is irradiated from the upper vertical part and moved along the butt line 10, the butt welding is performed with the melted metal being enclosed under the thin film and the dense weld zone without flow hole and pit is obtd. This welding is applied for the welding place of a low melting point metallic material and high steam pressure metallic material.
