    • PURPOSE:To prevent generation of oil leakage caused by cracks of an armature, and to contrive reduction in manufacturing cost by a method wherein the armature is formed by conducting an upsetting work on a soft steel wire material in which the content of phosphors and sulfur and the ferrite particle size of metal texture are specifically prescribed. CONSTITUTION:A plunger 7 and a compression spring 8 are housed in a cylinder 6 which is formed by drawing brass, and silicon oil is filled up therein. The aperture part of the cylinder 6 is closed by the armature 9 consisting of the large-diameter part 9a, which is brought into contact with the flange 6a of the cylinder 6, and a small-diameter part 9b which is fitted to a body part 6b. The above-mentioned armature 9 is formed by conducting an upsetting work on the soft steel wire material having the content of phosphorus and sulfur of 0.1wt.% respectively, and also having the ferrite particle size of metal texture of 7 to 8. As a result, the oil leakage caused by the cracks of the armature can be eliminated, the working manhours of the armature can be reduced, and the reduction in cost of an oil dashpot can also be achieved.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance the coercive force during the exciting process by smoothing contact surfaces for reducing cavities by a method wherein the contact surfaces of an electromagnetic iron core mechanically polished is further chemically ground using a mixed solution containing phosphoric acid. CONSTITUTION:When an electromagnetic iron core composed of a movable iron core 1 and a fixed iron core 2 is mechanically polished, numerous rugged parts as the ground traces are left on the contact surfaces forming large cavities 4. When such an electromagnetic iron core is immersed in a mixed solution containing phosphoric acid melted in methanol with ethylene chloride added thereto and then heated, the rugged parts on the contact surfaces are further chemically ground by the phosphoric acid. At this time, the recessed parts are hardly effused but the projected parts are selectively effused so that the contact surfaces may be smoothed to reduce the cavities 4 between the contact surfaces. Through these procedures, the contact surface of the electromagnetic iron core mechanically polished are further chemical-ground so that the cavities between the contact surfaces may be reduced to enhance the coercive force during the exciting process.
