    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas which efficiently collects PM (particulate matter), and has a uniformly carried catalytic metal resulting in efficient continuous oxidative burning of the collected PM. SOLUTION: An exhaust flow passage has a filter introduction part 100 for introducing exhaust gas into a filter and a filter bypassing part 200 for bypassing the filter introduction part 100. A filter is constituted in such a manner that a catalyst layer containing a catalytic metal-carried porous oxide is formed on a metallic plate provided with a through-hole 4 penetrating the front and back of the metallic plate and the diameter of the through-hole 4 is reduced to ≤200 μm or the through-hole is plugged by the catalyst layer. When the pressure in the filter introduction part 100 rises, exhaust gas flows through the filter bypassing part 200, so that the pressure loss can be restrained from increasing. PM is collected by the catalyst layer formed in the through-hole 4 and the collected PM is efficiently burned since the catalyst layer is heated uniformly and the catalytic metal is also activated uniformly.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diesel particulate filter that prevents a crack or the like, from being formed during use and PM regeneration of the diesel particulate filter.SOLUTION: In the diesel particulate filter (DPF) 60A, a compression force is locally applied from the outside of the DPF toward the center, in at least an outer peripheral end part at one of an upstream end (Fr side) and a downstream end (Rr side) of the DPF. An outer periphery of the DPF is fastened by a restraining band 80, as a load means of the compression force with respect to the DPF. The DPF prevents a crack to be generated due to local temperature change in the DPF during use or PM regeneration of the DPF, and increases a soot deposition limit.
