    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for generating active oxygen by supplying electrons to polyaniline, which keeps active-oxygen-generating capability by improving a ratio of a benzenoid structure that increases after energization, and to provide an apparatus therefor.
      SOLUTION: This apparatus for generating active oxygen has, for instance, an energization switch 4 which can reverse an energization direction between electrodes 1 and 2, as a transformation means for transforming a benzenoid structure to a quinoid structure. The method for generating active oxygen includes energizing the electrodes 1 and 2 after reversing the energization direction between them, when a ratio of the benzenoid structure to a quinoid structure has increased in comparison with the initial ratio before starting energization for generating active oxygen. The method can return the benzenoid structure of polyaniline, which has been increased by supplied electrons, to the quinoid structure by energizing a cathode 1 having carried polyaniline as an anode only for a short period of time, and thereby improve the increased ratio of the benzenoid structure to revive the capability of the apparatus for generating active oxygen.
