    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner and its control method for properly controlling a temperature even when an actual opening of an electrically operated expansion valve and an opening recognized by a control part controlling the electrically operated expansion valve are separated from each other.
      SOLUTION: This air conditioner comprising a refrigerant circuit successively connecting a compressor, an outdoor heat exchanger, the electrically operated expansion valve and an indoor heat exchanger, further comprises a discharge temperature sensor and the control part. The discharge temperature sensor detects the discharge temperature at a discharge side of the compressor. The control part changes the opening of the electrically operated expansion valve on the basis of a first limit value UL1 to make the discharge temperature approximate a target value, and further changes the opening of the electrically operated expansion valve on the basis of a second limit value UL2 over the first limit value, when the discharge temperature does not approximate the target value, though the opening of the electrically operated expansion valve reaches the first limit value UL1.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the sound of a shock at the time of switching by a method wherein when a low noise is required, a control means makes a stopping period of time for a compressor at least at one of the times when the operation is switched from a heating to a defrosting, or from the defrosting to the heating, longer than normal. SOLUTION: When there is no requirement for a low noise by a control means, a compressor is driven by a normal frequency, and in the meantime, when is a requirement for a defrosting at a time t1 , the compressor stops extending to a period of time T1 , and a switching is performed at a time of t3 , and the compressor is re-started, and a defrosting operation is performed, and from a time t2 , when the frosting is dissolved, extending to a period of time T2 , the compressor is stopped again, and is re-started again at a time t4 , and the operation is returned to a heating operation. When there is a requirement for a low noise, the compressor is driven by a limited frequency, and in the meantime, when there is a requirement for a deforesting at a time t1 , the compressor is stopped extending to a period of time T1 which is about twice longer than a normal time, and is re-started at a time t3 , and performs a defrosting operation, and is stopped again from a time t2 when the defrosting is dissolved, extending to a period of time T2 which is about 1.5 times longer than the time of a normal operation, and is reset at a time t4 , and is re-started again, and is returned to a heating operation.
