    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating evaluation method, even if a member coated with a first water-based coating in the wetting state is coated with a second water-based coating, capable of preventing generation of a mixed layer between these and ensuring good finishing.
      SOLUTION: In the coating method of 3-coat 1-bake system, an intermediate coating step is managed by evaluating the quality of coating of an intermediate water-based coating is evaluated by a water elution ratio calculated by the following method: (1) the intermediate water-based coating is film-formed to form a first coating film and after primary heating, a weight W1 is measured; (2) the first coating film after primary heating is secondarily heated and a weight W2 is measured; (3) the intermediate water-based coating is film-formed to form a second coating film and after primary heating, a weight W3 is measured; (4) the second coating film after primary heating is immersed in water and is secondarily heated and a weight W4 is measured; (5) a solid content weight is calculated by WS=W3×W2/W1; (6) a water elution weight is calculated by WP=W3×W2/W1-W4; and (7) a water elution ratio is calculated by WP/WS×100(%).
