      CONSTITUTION: The titled compound of formula II is prepared by reducing the ammonium salt of formula I (R is 1W12C alkyl or cycloalkyl; n is 1W4) with hydrogen. The reaction is carried out in the presence of (A) a Pd catalyst supported on a carrier comprising a sulfate or a carbonate and (B) a bromine compound such as HBr, KBr, NaBr, etc. The amount of the catalyst is 0.1W20mol%, based on the compound of formula I, and that of the bromine compound is 0.05W5pts.wt. per 1pt.wt. of the catalyst.
