    • PURPOSE:To prevent production of a burr, eliminate a remaining protrusion so as to reduce the size and weight by connecting a diffuser shell to a closure shell by means of electron beam welding. CONSTITUTION:A housing 1 is composed of a diffuser shell 2 and a closure shell 3, and the diffuser shell 2 is composed of a circular part 2a, central cylinder part 2b and inner cylinder part 2c. The central cylinder part 2b is provided with a caulking part 4 for fixing an ignition means and the inner cylinder part 2c accommodates a combustion means. The closure shell 3 is composed of an annular part 3a having a center hole 7 and a peripheral wall part 3b, and the peripheral wall part 3b is provided with a flange part 3c extending in the radial direction. A welded part 13 is formed in an outer peripheral part of the central cylinder part 2b and an outer peripheral edge part of the center hole 7; a welded part 14, at a tip part of the inner cylinder part 2c and in a region of the annular part 3a; and a welded part 15, at a peripheral edge part of the circular part 2a and a tip part of the peripheral wall part 3b. Since the welded parts 13, 14, 15 are electron beam welded, a remaining protrusion due to friction welding is not generated so as to miniaturize.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce density with which combustion residue within gas is adhered onto a cut-out section, thereby enhance cooling effect by forming a circular gas cooling member which is interposed to a cooling member chamber provided for the outside of a gasifying agent chamber in the radial direction, into a shape in such a way that an inner lower portion of a cros section in the radial direction is cut out. CONSTITUTION:The bottom section of a gas generator container 13 is broken by gas or pressure built up by gasifying agent 21, after that, gas goes to the radial direction so as to go into a cooling member 14 in a cooling member chamber 10. In this case, the lower inner diameter side of the cooling member 14 is formed with a cut-out 15, to the surface of which residue is adhered. The surface area of the cooling member 14 is widened by the aforesaid cut-out 15, the amount of adhesion per unit area is thereby lessened so that gas flows smoothly. In addition, the cut-out allows gas to flow into the center section of the thickness of the cooling member 14 with no restriction while streaming in the shaft vertical direction, thereby enhancing cooling effect.

    • PURPOSE:To improve strength, by arranging a stopper board having an integral male screw section onto an upper face at the circumference of a fixing hole made through a backup plate for holding an inflator which inflates a gas bag for protecting crewmen upon collision of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION:A backup plate 15 is formed of an aluminum plate into a box having an insertion hole 15a in the center of the bottom face, then a metal 2a at the circumference of the gas bag 2 and a holder 4 are secured with bolt 6 together with the flange section 3a of an inflator 3 by utilizing a plurality of small holes made at the circumference of the insertion hole 15a. Tapered fixing holes 15b are made at the opposite sides of the plate 15, and a male screw section 17 is secured to respective fixing holes 15b with the upper end thereof projecting from the upper face of the plate 15. Then a rectangular stopper board 20 is arranged on the upper face of respective circumference at the fixing hole 15b of the plate 15, and the upper end of the male screw section 17 is caulked to the boss section 20a of said stopper board 20 so as to secure the stopper board 20 to the male screw section 17 and the plate 15.
