      SOLUTION: The drying apparatus includes: a rotatable belt 1 having an outer surface (1a) coming into contact with a sheet (S) and an inner surface (1b); an air blowing mechanism (4) blowing hot air from the side of the outer surface to the sheet; and a heating unit including a heating element and a contact surface (5a) brought into contact with the inner surface. A plurality of rollers (3) are arranged in a direction in which the sheet is made to travel. The plurality of rollers are pressed against the outer surface of the belt and the travelling sheet is sandwiched between the plurality of rollers and the outer surface.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress degradation of drying capability required when increasing a quantity of outside air introduced into a dryer.
      SOLUTION: The inkjet recorder has the dryer for drying ink on a recording medium. The dryer includes a heating means for heating air in the dryer, and an outside air adjusting mechanism for adjusting a quantity of outside air introduced into the dryer. When the outside air adjustment mechanism is controlled so as to increase the quantity of outside air introduced (t1), the heating means is controlled before this control so that air heated by the heating means is raised in advance to a second target temperature T2 higher than a first target temperature T1 assigned for regular operation. Even when the temperature of the heated air drops as a result of actually increasing the quantity of outside air introduced, the temperature of the heated air is maintained at a value sufficient for drying, thereby suppressing degradation of the drying capability.
