    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time until normal handling of a needle is performed by prohibiting the passage of all drive pulses and stopping the drive of a step motor when a drive judgment circuit judges as non-rotation when a control circuit is passing a drive pulse for a low voltage with the maximum energy. SOLUTION: When a power supply voltage is equal to or less than 1.15 V, the voltage of a secondary power supply 13 drops due to charge shortage. When it becomes 1.15 V or less, this conditions is detected by a power supply voltage detection circuit 14 and a rotation judgment signal is sent from a drive judgment circuit 18 to a control circuit 15. The control circuit 15 prohibits the passage of a normal drive pulse and allows the passage of a drive pulse for a low voltage, instead. The drive pulse for a low voltage is a rapid pulse for every two seconds which is different in handling of a needle from a normal drive pulse, namely a two-second needle-handling pulse, and a user can detect that a voltage has dropped from the needle handling state of a second needle. Further, when the control circuit 15 is allowing the drive pulse for low voltage with the maximum energy to pass, it prohibits the passage of all drive pulses if the drive judgment circuit 18 judges to be non-rotation.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electronic watch where it is easy to find even a small second band is making an alarm motion by moving the hand for alarming by a first pulse. and a second pulse that is outputted to a specific range value from the output of the first pulse. SOLUTION: An electronic watch is provided with an alarm function by the abnormal movement of a small second hand 1, and the abnormal movement of clock hands is made by a first pulse and a second pulse that is outputted in 250 ms or more and less than 1 second from the first pulse. The small second hand 1 is first located at the position of the small second hand 1a. Then, the small hand 1 moves to the position of a small second hand 1b by the first pulse. After that, the small second hand 1 moves to the position of a small second hand 1c by the second pulse that is outputted 250 ms later. Therefore, the small second hand seems to stop at the position of the small second hand 1b momentarily while the small second hand 1 moves from the position of the small second hand 1a to that of the small second hand 1c for a user, thus informing the user of the advance of 2 seconds due to the small second hand 1.

    • PURPOSE:To display the time and date of an area by a simple indicating mechanism by specifying an area mark on a dial with an area indication hand and controlling displays of a day and a time by the movement of the hand with the relation between its direction and the international date line. CONSTITUTION:An area is specified with the area indication hand 204 among marks of respective areas which are displayed on the dial 201 and have respec tive local standard times and the time and date of the area are displayed with a dual hand 205 and a day hand 206 for a world time display. At this time, respective hands 204 - 206 are driven by stepping motors which have driving circuits respectively and the numbers of signals driving the hands 204 and 205 are counted to store their positions in a counting means. Then a discriminating circuit means judges in which direction the hands 204 and 205 reach specific positions and a control circuit advances the hand 205 in a corresponding direc tion and advances the hand 206 by one day when the hand 204 passes on the international date line.

SOLUTION: A plurality of transmission lines for simultaneously transmitting a plurality of AC electric fields through a wheel train are formed inside a clock. The position information of the wheel train is extracted from a change, in the propagation characteristics of a plurality of transmission line. Then, the position of a mechanical wheel train is subjected to electrical detection control, thus performing synchronization control of a mechanical closing mechanism by a low-power electric clocking mechanism. As an actual example, a signal having different phase and frequency is outputted from transmission electrodes 41 and 42, while pinching the toothed wheel of a detection wheel 43 made of metal having a hole 45. A modulated combined signal is received by a reception electrode 44 depending on the presence or absence of the hole 45, and the position of the detection wheel 43 is detected from the information.
