SOLUTION: A reduction dual epicyclic gear device is formed of a small diameter and a large diameter sun gears, a common carrier for supporting a stepped pinion formed of a large diameter and a small diameter pinions to be engaged with the small diameter and the large diameter sun gears, and a common ring gear to be engaged with the large pinion; the common ring gear is connected to an input shaft, and revolution of the small diameter and the large diameter sun gears are selectively regulated by a first and a second brakes, to generate the first revolution at the revolving speed smaller than that of the revolution of the input shaft and the second revolution at the revolving speed which is smaller than that of the first revolution in a carrier; and the first and the second revolution are transmitted to a first element of the reduction dual epicyclic gear device, and the revolution of the input shaft is selectively transmitted to a second element through a second clutch.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic transmission which can add a speed change stage containing a direct connection stage on the high speed stage side so as to make a gear ratio closer, derive the optimum performance of an engine in the high speed range of the vehicle speed, and obtain a gear ratio of 7th stage forward or higher which provides high effectiveness and small vehicle speed change at gear change to offer excellent feeling. SOLUTION: The automatic transmission is provided with a reduction gear device generating decelerated revolution whose number of revolution is less than that of an input shaft. A decelerated revolution output member is changed to be at decelerated revolution status or free revolution status by revolution status switching means. Decelerated revolution of the decelerated revolution output member is selectively transmitted to the fourth and the first elements of a dual planetary gear train for speed change through the first and third control clutches. While revolution of the input shaft is transmitted to the second element through the second control clutch, the revolutions of the first and the second elements are selectively regulated with the second control brake to connect the third element to the output shaft.

The ring gear of the second planetary gear mechanism is connected to the carrier of the speed reduction planetary gear device and the sun gears of the first and second planetary gear mechanisms are connected to each other by a third clutch. The sun gear of the first planetary gear mechanism is connected to a fourth brake and the carrier is connected to an output shaft.

SOLUTION: This vehicular automatic transmission comprises a first input path T1 with a first fixed speed ratio to the rotation of an input shaft 11, a second input path T2 with a second fixed speed ratio to the rotation of the input shaft 11 differing from the first speed ratio, a four-element planetary gear set G consisting of a plurality of planetary gears in combination, the four elements of which are shown as the first to fourth elements in the order of their arrangement in the speed diagram, a first clutch C-1 and a third clutch C-3 for transmitting rotation from the second input path T2 to the first and fourth elements S3 and S2, a second clutch C-2 and a fourth clutch C-4 for transmitting rotation from the first input path T1 to the third and first elements C2, C3 and S3, a first brake B-1 and a second brake B-2 for locking the fourth and third elements S2 and C2, C3, and an output shaft 33 connected to the second element R2. This constitution offers a forward ten-speed arrangement.
