    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the sticking phenomenon restraining method for a mercury switch corresponding to the mechanism of its occurrence by making clear the mechanism of a sticking phenomenon for the mercury switch. SOLUTION: Since the sticking phenomenon between the stationary and movable contacts of mercury switch is caused by the deposit and growth to the surface of the stationary contact Pt 131 of Ni compounds 133 having passed through the amalgamation 120 of Ni, Rh, and Cu which are dissolved into Hg 105 from the movable contact, the deposit of the Ni compounds over to the surface of the stationary contact, is thereby restrained. For this reason, a magnetic body is replaced with a non-nickel magnetic body, the surfaces of the movable contact and a spring made of stainless steel are plated with rhodium (Rh), impure elements are prevented from being mixed in the mercury switch, coating with a thin film made of Cr2 O3 , is applied to the surface of the stationary contact, and the quantity of copper plating is limited, so that the dissolution of Ni into Hg, and the deposit of the Ni compounds to the surface of the stationary contact Pt, are thereby prevented.
