At this time, application of a voltage to the counter electrode 53 is started as soon as starting displaying, and as a predetermined voltage application time has passed since displaying is started, the drive part 102 for displaying is controlled by a control part 101, so that application of the voltage to the counter electrode 53 is stopped and the counter electrode 53 is in a floating state.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display apparatus having a built-in photosensor that can suppress decrease in detection sensitivity on signals from a photosensor.
