摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure whose producing cost is suppressed low.SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure comprises a ceramic block where a plurality of honeycomb fired compacts in which many cells are arranged in parallel in a longitudinal direction across cell walls are united through adhesive material layers and a sealing material layer formed on the outer peripheral surface of the ceramic block. The honeycomb structure is characterized in that: the ceramic block includes the aggregate of units having square cross sections where a plurality of the units having the square cross sections in which the shape of a cross section perpendicular in the longitudinal direction is square are united through the adhesive material layers and units having triangular sections in which the shape of a cross section perpendicular in a longitudinal direction is a triangle and outer walls are formed on the outer peripheral surfaces; recessed parts and projected parts are formed into stepwise shapes on the outer peripheral surfaces of the aggregate of the units having the square cross sections; the units having the shape of the triangular cross section exist through the adhesive material layers at the recessed parts; and the thicknesses of the sealing material layers are partially different.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure that can be suitably used as a large honeycomb structure.SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure comprises a ceramic block comprising a plurality of burned honeycombs bound together via adhesive layers and each comprising a number of cells arranged side by side in a longitudinal direction with cell walls therebetween, and a sealant layer formed on the outer peripheral surface of the ceramic block. The burned honeycomb includes a first shape unit, a second shape unit, and a third shape unit. The cross-sectional shape of the first shape unit perpendicular to its longitudinal direction is rectangular. The cross-sectional shape of the second shape unit perpendicular to its longitudinal direction has at least a first side, a second side being longer than the first side and forming a right angle with the first side, and an inclined side opposite to the right angle. The cross-sectional shape of the third shape unit perpendicular to its longitudinal direction is a right-angled triangle having a hypotenuse and adjacent sides on its cross-sectional shape.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure which can be favorably used as a large-sized honeycomb structure.SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure 100 comprises a ceramic block 103 composed of a plurality of honeycomb calcined bodies 110 joined through adhesive layers 101, and a sealing material layer 102 formed around its peripheral surface. The honeycomb calcined bodies include units 110 of a first form in which a form of a section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction is quadrangular, and units 120 of a second form which are situated at a peripheral part of the ceramic block and arranged adjacently to the first units. A form of the unit of the second form in a section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction has a first side and a second side which form an right angle, and an inclined side facing the right angle. The second side is arranged adjacently to the unit of the first form. The length of the second side constituting a periphery of the unit of the second form is greater than the length of a longest side in four sides constituting a periphery in a section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the unit of the first form.
