    • PURPOSE:To improve a detection accuracy along with the maintenance of a light sealing plate and longer replacement interval by employing a light sealing plate having a groove into which the opening end of a can is inserted and made of a material larger in the hardness than the can. CONSTITUTION:In the apparatus designed to detect the light entering the inner hollow of the can passing through a pinhole thereon from a light source 18 with a photodetector, a groove 14 is formed on the light sealing plate 14 in such a manner that an opening end 10a of the can 10 is inserted thereinto. When detecting a pinhole, the opening end of the can 10 is inserted into the groove 14a until it contacts the bottom thereof. The light sealing plate 14 is made of a material having a larger hardness than the can enough to be free from wear due to the contact with the can 10, for example, carbide material and ceramic sintered material. Accordingly, the light damping by the groove 14a enables reduction of light leaking between the opening 10a and the light sealing plate 14 to a negligible level, thereby eliminating wear of the light sealing plate and assuring highly accurate detection.

    • PURPOSE:To enhance the cooling effect of moldings and dies and prevent the production of damages of dies and product surface defects by letting the cooling and lubricating fluid out through the opening of the nozzle provided with an inclination to the axial line of a ram be discharged through the path formed by the inside wall surface of the central orifice part and the barrel wall part of the molding or the ram. CONSTITUTION:In the process wherein a molding 17 is ironed by ironing dies 8b, the cooling fluid from the die outlet side nozzle 11b directly cools the working part 17b and the neighborhood of the working faces 8b2 of the dies 8b in contact therewith. Further, it cools the outlet side barrel wall part 17c of the molding 17 which is still high in temperature, in the nozzle opening 24 and path 25. After the molding 17 has passed the dies 8b and in the return stroke of the ram 7, the colling fluid directly cools the ram 7 which has been heated by the transfer of heat from the molding 17 which has evolved heat through ironing. At this time, part of the cooling fluid passes through the clearance between the ram 7 and dies 8b and cools the dies 8b and at the same time it is discharged to the inlet side while it is washing off the metall powder and debris deposited on the inside surfaces of the dies 8b.
