    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a washing machine having an ultraviolet light irradiation device capable of reducing leakages of the ultraviolet light to outside.
      SOLUTION: The washing machine is equipped with a charge door 41 for opening/closing an opening part formed ahead of the washing machine for taking laundry in and out of a drum. To a cover material 42 ahead of the charge door 41, a periphery part of an inner plate 48 is connected, and between the cover material 42 and the inner plate 48, an ultraviolet lamp 57 and a reflecting member 56 are fitted. A perfectly round opening part 48a is formed in a center part of the inner plate 48 which is formed by a heat-resistant glass of small ultraviolet light transmissivity and, to the opening part 48a, a quarts glass plate 49 is fitted. Thus, the quarts glass plate 49 is placed at a position facing the ultraviolet light lamp 57 and the ultraviolet light from the ultraviolet light lamp 57 can be transmitted towards the laundry in the drum. The ultraviolet light reflected on the drum surface is cut off by the inner plate 48 and the leakages of the ultraviolet light outside the laundry can be prevented.

A computer 46 compares the voltage signal outputted by the gauge 22 with the two thresholds and, in accordance with the comparison result, drives the driving means so that the cleaner body stops, moves forward, or moves backward.       SOLUTION: The lid switch 15 which opens/closes while in association with the opening/closing of a lid of the opening section is installed on a washing machine body. A power source port PE (5 V), two input ports PA and PB as a specified constituent element, and a grand port GND (0 V) are installed on a microcomputer 19. With the power source port PE, the input ports PA and PB, and the grand port GND, a detection circuit 20 which outputs a detection signal by detecting the opening/closing of the lid switch 15 is connected. Then, the microcomputer 19 determines the opening/closing of the lid switch 15 on the AND condition of the detection signal which is given to the input ports PA and PB. Also, diodes 23 and 24 for surge absorbing as a specified constituent element which are serially connected with each other are connected in parallel with the lid switch 15.
