      SOLUTION: In the production of the slaked lime slurry by mixing the slaked lime obtained by slaking the quick lime with water, 75-140 pts.mass slaking water is added into 100 pts.mass quick lime to slake the quick lime until the hydrous slaked lime having 15-30 pts.mass water content is obtained and the resultant hydrous slaked lime is formed into the slurry by adding water.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boron-containing waste water treatment method which can satisfy an effluent standard of 10 ppm or lower by a simple treatment, and can suppress an amount of generated sludge.
      SOLUTION: Calcium chloride and sodium carbonate are added to the boron-containing waste water, and the waste water is agitated. Reaction between the calcium chloride and the sodium carbonate generates calcium carbonate to reduce the concentration of boron in the waste water. Alternatively, calcium hydroxide and/or calcium oxide are/is added to the boron-containing waste water, and further carbon dioxide is added to react with the calcium hydroxide in a treating agent, which generates calcium carbonate to reduce the concentration of boron in the waste water.

The concentration of fluorine in the waste water can be lowered to a lower concentration than the solubility of the fluoride. The concentration of fluorine in the waste water can further be lowered by introducing a CO
      2 -containing gas in addition to the alkaline earth metal oxide.
