CONSTITUTION:One end of a spring 12 pressing magnetic heads 2, 5 onto the magnetic recording medium 1 is fixed to a spring fixing section 10 provided to a carriage 4 and the other end is fixed to a notch 16a of a pressing spring fixing member 16 provided with a screw part 17. The fixing member 16 is screwed into a screw hole 15 provided to an arm 14 and then the magnetic head device 19 is constituted. Through the constitution above, the tensile strength of the pressing spring 12 is adjusted by changing the screwed amount to the screw hole 15 of the fixing member 16. That is, the tensile force of the spring 12 is adjusted by the screw hole 15 provided to the arm 14 and a pitch 18 of the screw 17 formed to the fixing member 16, and the pressing force is adjusted easily optionally by changing the screw diameter and the pitch.

For the purpose of adjusting the azimuth, an aximuth turning lever 28 is fitted loosely to the second supporting rod 24. Azimuth adjusting screws 29a and 29b are engaged with this lever. One of these azimuth adjusting screws 29a and 29b collides with the head of the second reference pin 30 when the azimuth turning lever 28 is turned.

    • PURPOSE:To position a magnetic head correctly, by simultaneously reproducing a pair of recording tracks with a magnetic head to be adjusted and utilizing a fact that the frequency signals reproduced from the pair of tracks offset each other when the magnetic head is at a specified vertical position. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape 14 is made run at a fixed speed by means of a running mechanism which is not shown in the diagram and a reference tape for adjusting the vertical position of a magnetic head is implemented, by simultaneously recording a normal-phase frequency signal S1 and reverse-phase frequency signal S2 from a signal generator 16 on the magnetic tape 14 in parallel. When the vertical position of a magnetic head 18 is adjusted, the implemented reference tape 17 is made run in the direction of the arrow at a fixed speed and its reference tracks 31 and 32 are respectively reproduced by the recording- reproducing heads 19 and 20 of the magnetic head 18. The reproduced signals are inputted into a 2-phenomena oscilloscope 28 through regenerative amplifiers 26 and 27 and observed. When the magnetic head 18 is adjusted to a specified vertical position, the amplitudes of the reproduced outputs of the signals S1 and S2 become equal to each other and offset each other.

If the azimuth angle is set in this range, the crosstalk and the noise are reduced and good recording and reproducing of a minimum block error rate are possible when high-density recording with 10W15μm magnetic head width and 5W10μ track pitch is performed.
