    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel which makes stable write-in discharge possible over the whole surface thereof, while restraining increase of power consumption regardless of its large size and high definition.
      SOLUTION: The plasma display panel 21 has a plurality of paired display electrodes composed of a scanning electrode 2 and a sustaining electrode 3 covered by a dielectric layer 6, arranged in parallel with each other on a front glass panel 1; and a plurality of data electrodes 10 arranged in a direction perpendicularly crossing the display electrodes on a back side glass panel 8 facing the front side glass panel 1 with a discharging space 24 interposed. The width of the data electrode 10 at peripheral part of the plasma display panel 21 is formed so as to become wider than that at middle part of the plasma display panel 21.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display panel (DPP), having a structure for realizing high efficiency.
      SOLUTION: The plasma display panel is composed of a first base plate and a second base plate facing each other, at least one discharge cell formed by demarcating a space between the first base plate and the second base plate, and a phosphor layer contained in the discharge cell. In each of the discharge cell, an address electrode which is a discharge electrode, a first electrode and a second electrode are formed. The address electrode is formed extending alongside a first direction on the first base plate, and the first electrode and the second electrode are insulated from the address electrode on the first base plate and formed along the second direction crossing the first direction. The first electrode and the second electrode are projected toward the second base plate and face each other in each discharging cell, with a space in-between. The address electrode is composed of a first part formed corresponding to the space between the first electrode and the second electrode, in each discharging cell and a second part formed extending alongside the first direction.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forming method of a plasma display panel and an address electrode in which, while barrier ribs are made tall in order to improve emission efficiency, drive voltage is made not to increase.
      SOLUTION: This plasma display panel comprises a rear substrate and a front substrate which are arranged opposed to each other and forms discharge cells between these, a great number of address electrodes formed on the rear substrate in stripe shape, a first dielectric layer which is formed on the rear substrate and in which address electrodes are embedded, a great number of sustaining electrodes which are formed in pairs in stripe shape crossing at right angles the address electrodes at the bottom of the front substrate, a second dielectric layer which is formed at the bottom of the front substrate and in which the sustaining electrodes are embedded, a protection layer formed at the bottom of the second dielectric layer, and a great number of barrier ribs which are provided between the rear substrate and the front substrate and demarcate the discharge cells, and are coated with a phosphor layer on the side. Each of the address electrodes comprises a thick wall part arranged at a position corresponding to the discharge cell and a thin wall part arranged between the thick wall parts, and the thick wall part is formed larger than the thin wall part. Therefore, with the tall height of the barrier ribs, emission efficiency is improved and also the address electrodes do not become tall without increasing the interval between the address electrode and the sustaining electrode.

      SOLUTION: Although address discharge is generated between one branch electrode 22a (or 22b) and a sustaining electrode 13 and the one branch electrode 22a (or 22b) is charged with electricity and the potential level is lowered, the other branch electrode 22b (or 22a) other than the one branch electrode 22a (or 22b) maintains a sufficient potential level as the address electrode 22 has a plurality of branch electrodes 22a, 22b between the neighboring partition walls. Thereby, stable address discharge can be generated with the other branch electrode 22b (or 22a) by the adjoining sustaining electrode 13.
