    • PURPOSE:To improve S/N ratio by forming an ultrasonic wave scattering body fixed on the surface of a piping between an ultrasonic sensor and a noise generation source through a clamp to inhibit ultrasonic waves as noise propagating through the surface thereof. CONSTITUTION:A water drum 3 is provided on a piping 2 between a reactor core and a recirculation pump 1 and an ultrasonic sensor 4, on the drum 3. The sensor 4 detects an ultrasonic wave of a released sound accompanied by a leakage 7 of a coolant at a rupture 6 which will occur at any portion of the piping 2 inadvertently to be inputted into a leakage detector 5. A noise inhibitor 8 is provided fixed at the portion of the piping close to the drum 3 between the sensor 4 and the pump 1. The device 8 is made up of a pair of split halves which are integrally fixed with bolts and nuts 11, 11... as clamping means. The inner surface 12 of the device 8 is made the same in the shape as the outer diameter of the piping 2 and concave grooves 13 are formed in such a manner as to be perpendicular to the direction of the axis thereof so that they will combine with convexes 14 relatively formed to create a scattering body 15. This can inhibit noises propagating through the surface of the piping 2 from the pump 1.

    • PURPOSE:To enable the detection of the smallest leakage on line by rendering a white noise an output of a sound sensor attached to a pipeline to detect leakage position. CONSTITUTION:Outputs of sound sensors 11 and 12 attached to a pipeline at a proper space is amplified with an amplifier connected thereto and then, passed through a white color filter to render a white noise an output of sound sensors at the normal time without leakage. Then, an output of the white color filter is squared with a multiplication circuit and the squares Z1n and Z2n of the output of the white color filter at the normal time as preset are subtracted from the outputs Z1 and Z2 thereof to extract leakage sound components DELTAZ1 and DELTAZ2. When the leakage sound components thus obtained are sent to an averaging circuit respectively to determine the mean thereof and the ratio (r) of both is obtained with a devision circuit, the distance (x) to the leakage point B from the mounting position 1 of the sound sensor 11 can be found by the equation DELTA. Thus, the smallest leakage can be detected on line.
