CONSTITUTION:A powder is obtained in the following manner: needle ferric hydroxide particles or needle hematite particles obtained by heating and baking them are heated and reduced in a reducing gas; needle metal magnetic fine particles composed mainly of iron are formed; after that, they are brought, in a vapor phase, into contact with at least one kind out of silicone compound monomers expressed by the formula; the particles of the needle crystal metal magnetic fine particles composed mainly of iron is covered with a polymer formed of the silicone compound monomer; the particles are heated; the polymer on the particle surface is made dense; after that, the particles are oxidized. The powder is composed mainly of iron whose coercive force is 1500Oe or higher, whose saturation magnetization is 150emu/g or lower, whose S. F. D is 0.35 or less, whose resin adsorption amount is 4.0wt.% or larger and whose long axis is 0.2mum or less.

In the case where the silicone film is comprised of a silicone copolymer, the surface of the lumber to which the fine solid particles are stuck is unified and then coloring and/or coating treatment is performed, if the film is of the matter which can fix infiltration rate of a coloring agent, the same is not restricted with its kind and film forming method.

CONSTITUTION:A powder having active sites on the surface (e.g. inorganic pigment, a metal oxide, an organic pigment, a silicate mineral, carbon or a metal) is brought into contact with at least one silicone compound of the formula [wherein R , R and R are each a (halogen-substituted) 1-10C hydrocarbon group; R , R and R are each H or a (halogensubstituted) 1-10C hydrocarbon group; a is 0, b is 0 or an integer >=1; and c is 0 or 2, and when c is 0, the sum of a and b is an integer >=3] in the form of a vapor, thereby depositing the silicone compound on the entire surface of the powder and polymerizing the silicone compound by the active sites distributed on the entire surface of the powder to form a uniform thin polymer film. In this way, a modified powder whose surface activity is killed can be obtained. This modified powder neither denatures nor decomposes the coexistent perfume, oil, resin or the like, so that it can be used in many fields.
