    • PURPOSE:To make it easy to control the attenuation property, by feeding the oil pressure generated from an actuator in accordance with the operation of a manual operation lever to clamp mechanisms arranged on opposite sides of a laminated spring so as to allow the friction between the leaf springs to be suitably increased. CONSTITUTION:In case when a vehicle travels on a rough road and the friction between the leaf springs of the laminated spring 4 is to be increased, an operation lever 30 is rotated about its axis clockwise, then a power transmitting member 25 is pulled and an oil pressure is generated in an actuator 23. Then the oil pressure is fed to oil pressure chambers 20 of cylinder bodies 10 at clamp mechanisms 7 positioned at opposite sides of the laminated spring 4, so that pistons 15 are pushed down to clamp the leaf springs 15... via a liner 16 to increase the friction between the leaf springs. Therefore the equivalent attenuation factor can be set higher, and the attenuation can be increased. On the other hand, when the vehicle travels on a good road, and a stop mechanism 41 is released, a handle 30 is rotated counterclockwise to release the pressing force of the pistons 15 so that the friction between the leaf springs is lowered.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent inclination or eccentricity of the piston and obtain a smooth operation, in a single-acting cylinder device having a short stroke, by retaining a piston substantially concentrically with a cylinder body. CONSTITUTION:A head-side cover 12 is provided with a projection 22, the outer peripheral portion of which is concentric with the peripheral wall of a cylinder chamber 11. A piston head 16a is provided with a concave portion 23 having the inner peripheral wall which is concentric with the outer peripheral portion thereof. A spring member 21 is fitted in the projection 22 at the inner peripheral portion thereof, while the outer peripheral portion is fitted in the concave portion 23. Thus, the eccentricity of the piston head 16a can be prevented effectively and there is not nibble in the mutual slide portion, which enables a stable and smooth operation of the cylinder during a long period of time.
