    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing stainless steel, which can effectively use the heat of slag produced in a rough decarbonization step for a melting step in an electric furnace, and can use chromium contained in the slag as a component of a molten pig iron.
      SOLUTION: This production method includes: roughly decarbonizing the molten pig iron 2 of the stainless steel in a converter 4 by blowing oxygen into the molten pig iron; discharging the slag 10 produced in the rough decarbonization step to a container 11; charging the discharged slag 10 into the electric furnace in a hot-charging state, and melting both of the charged slag 10 and a raw material for use in making the stainless steel. The composition of the raw material is controlled so as to include 10 wt.% or more FeCr and 0.5 to 1.5 wt.% Si, and the Si content in the FeCr is preferably controlled to 3 wt.% or more.
